Bongo Bash 2010

This is the 8th Bongo Bash, and the 7th to be held at the very wonderful Lickhill Manor site at Stourport-on-Severn in Worcestershire. This year's dates are Wednesday 16 to Monday 21 June. We are expecting about 300 Bongos and their occupants.

Why Bother?

For those that have never been to the Bongo Bash, the first time you drive through the gates on to the rally field is a site that you will never forget. Nearly 300 Bongos in one place, and every one of them different! And even if you've never camped out in your Bongo before, that's no problem! You don't need an elevating roof, you don't need a giant awning. You don't need a leisure battery or a mains hook-up. All you need is a pillow and a duvet! (And perhaps a corkscrew). The versatile Bongo will give you a good night's sleep without a need to buy accessories. And if you don't fancy staying overnight, then why not just turn up for the day! (No booking required for day visitors).

This year we have arranged a hog-roast for Saturday evening, followed by live music from "The Happy Cats"! We also have other activities planned for Thursday and Friday nights, plus a coach excursion on Saturday. And on Sunday there is the members Annual General Meeting where we have an exciting new awards ceremony. Haydn will be running his legendary Maintenance Masterclasses over the weekend.

The Lickhill Manor Camping Site is ideal for everyone. The 14 acre rally field is by the side of the Severn and can easily accomodate 300 vehicles. There are 56 electric hook-ups available, and a further 16 hook-ups for "light" electrical use, such as lighting, kettles etc....not suitable for coolboxes, hairdryers or microwaves! All electric pitches are allocated on a first-come basis, so ensure you make your booking early. There is a childrens adventure playground. The campsite has fishing rights, and small boats can be launched from the slip way. The town of Stourport is a 15 minute riverside walk away, and the picturesque Bewdley is 20 minutes in the opposite direction. And it goes without saying that the facilities are top notch. See here for site details.

The level terrain provides easy walking for people of all abilities. The facilities are of the highest standard and we will have our own dedicated heated toilet and shower block, which is entirely free.

The campsite has its own fishing rights on the Severn, and there is a slipway for the launch of small boats, dinghies and canoes. There is also a Saturday ferry service in to Stourport.

There is a seperate childrens play area, and a dog walking route.

There is no shop on site, but there is a convenience store and a community pub (the Stagborough) 10 minutes walk away.

The camp site has its own website which you can visit here.

Local Information

The Georgian town of Stourport stands at the confluence of the rivers Stour and Severn. Built primarily as a canal trading port, it is now a popular holiday destination offering a variety of shops, hostelries, restaurants and entertainment. There is a Tesco in the town and a wide selection of B&Bs and hotels. Both the Swan and Angel hotels do rooms, but booking ahead is essential.

In addition to the West Midlands Safari park and Stourport itself, other attractions nearby include the Severn Valley Steam Railway, the Bodenham Arboretum, the beautiful river side town of Bewdley, the Wyre Forest, Ray's Farm and many, many more attractions.

Full details can be found on the Wyre Forest Visitors website.
