Re: Khyam motordome classic - gutter fixing
Protective strips... don't think so, what did they look like? It did actually cross my mind that whacking the hard plastic fig 8 pieces onto the gutters probably wasn't really doing the paintwork any good... Permanently attached fig 8 - now there's an idea. So tell me, when it comes to attaching the...

Re: Khyam motordome classic - gutter fixing
Just to update - used the awning on the Normandy coast the day after the dregs of Hurricane Bertha passed through, and no problems at all. Pretty impressed actually. When I started this thread I hadn't realised that you actually have to press the figure of 8s pretty hard onto the gutter, causing the...

Re: bike carriers
If it helps I have the Avenir Arizona (I think). Had it for years, does the job, fits the Bongo fine - just got back from France with it in fact. Not sure I'd fully trust it on the vertical back of a Bongo loaded with 3 full-sized bikes mind you, although in theory it should be OK. Versatile too - i...

Re: Attached or driveaway awning - pros and cons
Well I bought one of those Outdoor Revolution Tech 200 porches ...could I roll it up tight enough to get it back in the bag with the poles too? Nope!
First rule of all equipment bags seems to be that they are approx 10% smaller than the items they are 'designed' to...

Re: Drivers door comes out very slightly at top
My old one was very much like that, my current one less so but still a bit. The doors don't hold their shape very well long term it seems. I never tried to do anything about it though...

Waxoyl/underseal recommendation - South West
Having purchased a very nice condition recently imported 2001 Bongo that had no underseal on it, my first priority was to get it done. My last Bongo was undersealed at Allans Vehicle Services in Plymouth about eight-plus years ago. He did it for a great price - about £100 ish in 2005 if I recall cor...

Re: Access to lights on rear tailgate (newer facelifted bong
Actually no (I don't think anyway). But there's some water in it. My plan was to open in and remove the water, then try to seal it up a bit better, maybe after putting LED bulbs in if the nature of the seal was a bit on the 'permanent' side (ie using sealant). So I went to have a look at doing so, o...

Re: intermittently heavy steering
So, for reference, I sprayed both joints with WD40 as suggested above, gave them a bit of a wipe and then sprayed them both with Motorcycle chain lube. 5 minute job. Wiggled the steering around a bit, then tested. Instant result. Not sure if it was the top or bottom joint, but suspect the bottom one...

Access to lights on rear tailgate (newer facelifted bongos)
Could some kind person please tell me how I get at the bulbs in the tailgate-mounted light clusters which feature on the newer 'facelifted' Bongo? The main rear light clusters are easy to get into, but I can't see any obvious way to get into these ones so a bit of info would be handy before I start ...

Re: intermittently heavy steering
Thanks guys, all sounds sensible. Are the two joints easy to get at then? Is it just a case of crawling under the front with a can of lube?
