Not many know about the valves, and from memory don't think the drawings indicate the inner one way valve, let us know if it makes a difference.
I've always wondered if these getting blocked contributes to some problems blamed on the fuel pump leaking back when the engine is stopped .

On the diesel models the water pump doesn’t run off the timing belt. Not sure about the petrol models?

Fily-by-wire. Also consider fuel control unit inside pump.
It's a pity the garage can't get it scanned. Takes away some of the guesswork.

Check the stop solenoid on top[ of the pump.

If nothing is coming out of the injectors then either the pump isn't being turned or something is blocking the fuel coming thru the pump itself ? Can someone provide a spare pump perhaps to try out ?
