Bored with Butties phase 9

Talk about non-Bongo stuff. BUT KEEP IT CLEAN....there are children watching. Smut, filth, and anything offensive will not be tolerated and removed immediately.

Bored with Butties phase 9

Post by Muzorewa » Fri Mar 12, 2010 2:58 pm

I don’t know about you but most cookbooks I have contain maybe only one or two recipes I would regularly use or even try. I do have one though which has loads of great dishes in it, so much so that it has fallen apart from regular use. It is by a Scottish couple Doug Bell and Rhoda Robertson who embarked on an extended trip of the southern United States and into México, on their way picking up authentic recipes which they then compiled into a book, Two Cooks and a Suitcase. They then set up Lupe Pinto’s delicatessen in Edinburgh which is a crucial source of supply for all your Mexican groceries, either on-line or whenever you happen to be passing through Edinburgh. The book is still available, and if you buy a copy in the store you can get it autographed by the authors

They planned to publish a second book, the Half Canned Cooks, focussing mainly on tinned foods. Several years on the book has still not been released but the concept still holds good especially for in-Bongo food. All those sumptuous delights you can rustle up armed with just a few random tins of mackerel, AlphaBetti and sprouts :?

Let’s try a bit of Word Association....

So for today’s lunch, how about Spam® goulash

Looks GOOD Muz, but, after reading the intro, I take it you just substitute the spam with mackeral, tomatoes with AlphaBetti and the spuds with the sprouts?
Sounds good to me.

Mackerel, AlphaBetti & sprouts must be like tinned baby-food :-#

When I do that one, you'll know I'm running short of ideas
