Bored with Butties phase 13
Phase 13, and it’s unlucky for all those baby quails that won’t get to see the light of day
Well I had some black pudding lurking in the fridge, since before Christmas as it happens, so I thought I had better get it used up, can’t be wasting quality food like that you know This is a quick & easy meal, ideal to ‘max-up’ the size of your black pudding by using quail’s eggs and cherry tomatoes. Yes, I know, you can’t get quail’s eggs from Asda, although judging by the size of some of the Smart-Price eggs I’m not so sure
Black pudding, quail’s eggs, cherry tomatoes & mustard
Zap the black pudding....
....then crack some quail’s eggs open. This isn’t as easy as you might think, scissors or a scalpel are handy to hack through the tough membrane
Then add some dissected tomatoes....
....and serve with mustard.
This would make a superb butty but that isn’t allowed in this section

Hi
OOoo quail's eggs...reminds me of Spain in the early 60's...yummy appetisers!
As regards next week's "do"...I'll eat anything that's not fish...they make Donkey sausages over here...not tried that...yet!
Cheers

Donkey sausages - are they really donkey sausages or is that some sort of Bulgarian euphamism?

Hi Muz
No...they really do eat horse and donkey...horse is pretty common in Europe...the Dutch quite like it, and the French, Italians, etc. But...our friend over here was suggesting we buy a donkey for sausages...of course we said no...but apparently it is mixed with other meat, or on its own, and most families have a sausage -machine, and they use washed animal gut as in the old days....They slaughter and butcher meat themselves, and our friend is one helluva skilled butcher...we helped him with a pig last year (not the slaughter)...and all the while we were butchering, there was something or other on the barbi (best ask before sampling)...ears, cheeks (remember "grits'n'jowls")...hog jowl is a delicacy in America!.....
Yes...if you are coming in 2011, I'll see if anyone has donkey sausage! ...not for me though
Cheers

We've had horse in France and brought horse steaks back to barbecue at home, much to the dismay of local guests
Not tried donkey. Yet......

If you made it into patties would you end up with ass-burgers syndrome?
