Bored with Butties phase 17
Ok, this one is especially for Alison (Alison01326, not Mrs Muz ), another rubbery idea to scare the Mother-in-Law away. You live in a harbour town so must be able to get octopus. And there must be a shop for health-food freaks like myself where you can get all those strange grains & pulses, so what about octopus in quinoa
Tip 1 – If you get fresh octopus, freeze it. If you get frozen octopus, erm, it’s already frozen. If you don’t freeze it you’ll be needing a chainsaw to cut it up – the freezing process breaks down some of the inherent rubberiness (is that a word? )
Tip 2 - Also get your friendly fishmonger to clean it – a lot less bovver than a Hovver
Tip 3 – Get baby octopus, then you don’t need to boil it for hours on end to make it edible
Tip 4 – Don’t, as they do in Korea, eat live baby octopus (there are some disturbing YouTube videos of this if you dare to look, such as this, you have been warned)
So, get some organic Bolivian quinoa on the go in some stock with a knob of butter.
Then get the octopus cleaned & rinsed.
Fry in some butter for that delightful taste....
....looking good....
....and adorn with something to break up the monotony of the colours
Hmmm, rubbery

Re: Bored with Butties phase 17
How interesting, just had a google......
a live octopus may be sliced up and the legs eaten while still squirming, which continues for some minutes.
but when you do cook them....
Care must be taken to boil the octopus properly, to rid it of slime, smell, and residual ink
did you really eat it Muz???? I think we need pics of you devouring the food lol

Well I most certainly ate the testies sorry, tenties, but when I cut the head off the first one there was a watery squirt from it, not sure now having read your post whether it was residual slime or just water. So the heads went west but the tentacles were lovely.
Quinoa wasn't bad either
Oh, there's plenty of YouTube footage of the squirming tentacles as well
