As I said at the beginning of Phase 40, if your idea of chili con carne is minced beef in a sloppy sauce with red kidney beans and served with boiled rice, then for the real thing I presume you mean Stagg ChiliIan wrote:Hmmmmm.....all looks like homebrew stuff rather than the real thing.....
For the BritCar 24 hours at Silverstone we did another “almost live” version of Bored with Butties, another triumph of one-pot cooking. Just one thing – Stagg’s “Dynamite Hot” chili is not going to fail them on the Trade Descriptions Act 1968
Tinned chili, tinned kidney beans, onions, Uncle Ben’s Express Rice, salsa and jalapeños
Chop the onions....
....and zap them in olive oil in a big pan....
....add the tinned chili – note how it spontaneously steams away as soon as you add it – not that it’s hot or anything
Add some more red kidney beans....
....and some rice – and a splash of water....
....leave all those delicious flavours to get to know one another, not too long though or the bottom of the pan will melt
....get the accessories ready – feta, hot salsa (to cool things down), jalapeños (to cool things down) and lime wedges to go in your bottles of Sol or Corona
For a one-potter, this is ace
Go on, I dare you. “Dynamite Hot” Stagg chili is the Daddy. All others are for babies
Mrs Muz taking her first mouthful, is it hot dear?
Jr making the fatal mistake of having a drink before he’s finished
Muzette making the eminently sensible choice of Pot Noodle
