Throttle Position Sensor

After having the ubiquitous 'flashing glowplug light' my garage tells me the fault code points to the throttle position sensor/potentiometer. Can anyone recommend a supplier?

More expensive than when I got mine from them but best get on and "Just do it". If you're sure it's the tps then it's the only option. I spent months procratiating, and worrying. In retrospect I should have done it straight away.

Not sure its the only option. Take the loom out and all you need is a potentiometer giving the same readings. I thought mine was goosed when I had problems (turned out to be the thimble filter in the IP). Making an adaptor to take a £15.00 throttle pot wouldn't break the bank, and better than being screwed.

Hmmm.... that's exactly the kind of thoughts I was having. No way I was going to pay £160 for a £1 pot and so began the procastination I measured the pot off the van, I measured it on the van, I got others to measure theirs. I tried to clean it. I looked for pattern parts, I looked for oem parts, etc, etc....

I guess if you have the time and facilities to knock something up you're right it's not "the only option" but I still don't think it would be that straight forward.

In retrospect I wish I'd just coughed up straight away it would hve saved a lot of hassle, hence my advice.

Thanks for your answers. I'm not that technically minded so making my own substitute is not really an option. I've have had a 'flasher' for about a year. Last time in went into the garage the guy downloaded the error codes (saying there were loads of them) and suggested I continued to use and get it back to him once it flashed again. We took it to Normandy and has three 'flashing incidents'. Again on our return he read the codes - there were more than one - and his view is the most likely cause is the TPS (I think he's eliminated the others - one was air leak on inlet I believe). I want to get the problem dealt with as it spoils what is otherwise a great little vehicle.

I tested mine by connecting a multimeter to it. Whenever I experienced gear change problems (like gear hunting) I could see the readings jump all over the place.

One thing I didn't try when trying to find a replacement was ask at an offical Mazda garage. They should be able to get one and you never know, maybe the price will be ok.

Whatever route you take hope it's fixed soon.

Pick up a 2nd hand TPS - there are plenty bongos being broken

I have adjusted mine so I can hold a higher gear for longer
