MX3 window switch

Post by missfixit70 » Thu Aug 21, 2008 11:02 pm

Picked up an MX3 drivers side window switch today from the scrappy - mounting points, switches & positions are the same, but the plug & internals are different & there is one extra wire (7 instead of 6 on the bongo one).
Has anyone managed to get one of these to work on a bongo? If so can you tell me what wires connect to what terminals/wires on the existing connector/loom? If not I'll figure it out if it can be made to work ( at some point) so that we have another usable option for that darn window switch :D

If it's any thing like the 626 switch i fitted the 7th wire is something to do with the rocker switch & is live!! I capped that one off. (Although i'm wondering if i could use it to power an anti carjacking device.)
I also know the two wires that appears to power the passenger side serves the drivers door & visa versa...

I will have a look tomorrow & check what attaches to what, wire colour wise.
(providing no one beats me to it!!)

Just seen an MX3 switch on the Bay, from the underside picture the wiring looks pretty much the same as the 626!

OK, here's how it goes... (bearing in mind i have a window closing module fitted in the loom, which complicates things!)

1. Black with Red stripe + connect to Black with Brown stripe.
2. Black - connect to Black.
3. Red with white stripe, connect to Orange.
4. Green with white stripe, connect to Red with white stripe.
5. Red with black stripe, connect to Green.
6. Green with black stripe, connect to Red with blue stripe.

The seventh deadly wire is for the Rocker switch, Black with Blue stripe. this will be live when you connect 1 but i didn't use it!
I can only assume it gives a separate live feed to the passenger window on the MX3 & 626 models...?
I have no need to isolate the passenger window.
You also might need to tailor the Bongo switch plate where the rocker switch sits...?

I will say this, my 626 is not that dissimilar from your X3.
But mine don't have the two skinny red wires running underneath.
Image
The extra clip on the left holds the unit securely in place, (it came off the 626 plate) i found the switch was prone to lifting without it due to the stiffness of the wires.
Image
Plus, i did have to cut a rebate into the Bongo switch plate to get the switch to sit right with the rocker..

MX3 switch works :D , cheers Jamie, saved me some messing about, tested it by sticking the wires in the connector block as per your colour codes. See what you mean about the rocker switch, but at least it works with a bit of manipulation.
