Post by Wakeybongo » Sun May 15, 2011 7:51 pm

2L petrol (new shape) developed a bit of a ticking when engine running.
Anyone any ideas?
Cheers.
Ian.

Check the reset button on the tripmeter has been pushed in properly, wouldn't be the first time
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

done that one myself   #-o .
check the fan belts, you may have a fraying belt.
or some petrols (not usually bongos) tick from the exhaust manifold when the gasket is put- putting, leaking. check around this with soapy water, and look for bubbles.
or the diesels tick on the fuel filter because of the internal valve/flap if its a gen filter, this may apply to petrols to.worth a check though.

Yep !!! a plug lead shorting to earth would "tick" I would also expect you to notice a "misfire" if that was the case......But well worth checking the leads......have a look in the dark and you may see a "spark"
