My roof is stuck down

OK; I have checked the handbrake switch; its ok;

there is peeping but no movement

I stripped out the rear and tried a new control box; no luck

Removed the whole headlining ready to try and remove the roof to unstick the motors as I suspect the winter has not ben kind

I undid the five bolts either side saw on another site and its still immoveable pretty much

Is there a thread showing me what to do to lift up the rear so I can get at the motors???

Have you tried powering the motors directly via the 4 way plug ?

just jumper across - briefly - from the two power pins to the two motor pins when unplugged from the module to test.

I tested the voltages out from the four pin plug already as I have a translated manual; all working as they should be; I changed the AFT module in the rear in case that had a fault; it did not

My guess is either stuck motors or a microswitch in the roof has gone weird

Is there one on the auto box to detect its in gear or moving? One of the multiplug pins when I tested it seemed to suggest the bongo was moving!! It was not

I am ready to take the roof off if needs be

The 4 pin connector only has power;
Earth - 1A - Black
+12v - 1C - Green
and the two motor connections;
1B and 1D Blue/Yellow and Blue/Red
So try just linking;
1A to 1B and 1C to 1D and it drives the motors one direction then try
1A to 1D and 1C to 1B and it will drive the other direction if the motors are working.

will do at the weekend; roof is safely bolted on; having the interior out has an advantage in application of waxoyl too!

tried allot of options; hoping direct power will shift it ; I get a feeling the motors have stalled (I expect the dampness of the winter has furred up the brushes)

Fixed it !

Took interior out; removed the five track nuts and the four nuts for the rear hinge using an adapted tube spanner for the latter. Chocked up the rear and then adapted an allan key to make it shorter to fit the motors. Motor removal a bit of a fiddle but then easy to ID the failed one by running the motors or running off a battery direct.

CAUTION! in my enthusiasm to reach inside the boot to get the 10 mm spanner I needed I knocked one of the chocks and HORROR the roof moved forward (under the immense force of the struts). After some panic I had a plan which was to put a rope around the hinges and use my mini as an anchor and the Bongo in creep forward to pull it back which worked! A better plan for the future would be to rope it first as a precaution as this was a bit nervy!
