Somerset / westcountry meet up 10th September
Any one else think we should have a local meet up
A day meet some where local ish with camping around if needed
any thoughts?
EDIT
Ok
Went out for a recce last evening and I have come up with something as follows
Brean beach car park at the bird garden, there is more camping there than you can shake a stick at and Channel View is alongside the sea wall about 100 yards away
http://www.breanfarm.co.uk/channel-view.html
We can park on the tarmac car park or on the sand, there is loads of space, cafe, shop and toilets. carpark is a NT carpark and is £2.50
carpark link the carpark and so beach parking closes at 8 pm at the moment
Day meet on Saturday 10th September which is the week before the Bongo fest south west meet in Looe. is the best date I can come up with without affecting other meets or school holidays.
So I am calling this a date and see what we get, if you want to camp please arrange directly with sites there are loads around but channel view is closest. may be a good idea to post sites if you are interested so you can camp together.
Brean is a established holiday village with plenty of facilities pubs, shops, a golf course even a funpark and swimming complex where we will park there is a NT walk across Brean down which is the headland and Miles of beach Many people holiday here year after year.
Burnham on sea is to the south and Weston-super-Mare is to the north with cheddar and Glastonbury not too far away giving loads of opportunities for things to do if you decide to come and stay for a few days.

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

If anyone is looking/lurking and not sure about this one I can say looking at the names signed up this might be quite a good Meet.

true Bob
now when is the question and where?
Do we want to avoid the school holidays? and if so should it be after
for the day meet I was thinking of one of the beach carparks at Sand Bay (they are not on the sand) the middle and far end have toilets
loads of open space and walks camping is close too.
or anywhere else?

Could not be closer for me (unless it was in my garden ) Sounds like a plan (but not in my garden )

Re: Somerset /westcountry meet up?
I'm rather booked up between now and the end of September so I won't say when, I'll just hope! If camping would prefer lower rather than higher price, if day meet doesn't matter! Although I would prefer to camp than drive that far, just to turn around and drive back at the end! Best preference would be a meet on the campsite so I can have a drink or three!westonwarrior wrote:true Bob

There's a pub at Mark called the White Horse. It has a CS campsite field right next to the car park. I looked it up when someone recommended it as a stopover and visited when I went to Highbridge Caravans. Would be good for a meet perhaps. There's a CDP but no toilets outside of pub hours (may have changed).

Re: Somerset /westcountry meet up?
I'm up for it between 10 & 20 June .. it'll be my first ever outing with the Bongo, so it would be nice to be amongst friends
Re: Somerset /westcountry meet up?
We don't have children so away from school hols suits us best, but for a weekend it doesn't really matter that much.
Happy to fit in with everyone else.
