Venue for Southern Softies?

Post by Ian » Thu Sep 20, 2012 1:36 pm

The 2013 Southern Softies meeting is due to be held between Thursday 18 and Sunday 21 April. We are experiencing difficulties finding a suitable venue. So far we have tried Landford in the New Forset (not big enough), 2 sites north of Oxford (neither suitable), Blackland Lakes near Colne (too far from pub), and Hurst View at Lymington (not enough hook-ups.

The criteria for this meet are

must have minimum of 50 hook-ups
must be dog & child friendly
must have clubhouse or nearby pub
must be grass pitches or combination of hard-standing/grass
must have access to site for late arrivals
not in Kent, Sussex, Surrey or Essex (held in Hastings last year)

Anyone like to propose a site?

:-k Went to this a couple of weeks ago http://www.rowlandswait.co.uk/ Deepest darkest Dorset, well actually 9 miles west of Merley. 2 pubs in the village 20 mins walk through fields from the campsite and absolutely surrounded with places to visit. At the time of year your looking at Ian it would use all their hook ups, but I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem if it was booked early enough. They also have 2 large rally fields for any extra hardy peeps who don't require all mod cons
See what you think matey, I loved the place 8)
cheers! party on dudes.

It's OK! All sorted! We have managed to get a good deal with Blackland Lakes near Calne. The pub down the road has not closed after all. So Southern Softies is on over the weekend of 19 April. 8)

May have to take the plunge and come along :D . Have yet to meet any of you, other than Jillygumbo, and have had the van close on a year now.

Ruby just passed MOT :) :) , new front discs needed, which I knew about, but that was it. Running like a bird, she is.

I will come along as long as Boris does not misbehave.......having said that...just came back from Wales...

Terrible conditions on M4, he behaved like a real gentleman. Took it all in his stride.

All the TLC and work has paid dividends.
