Sliding door lock electrics

Post by clutha » Fri Feb 15, 2013 12:01 pm

Our sliding door lock mechanism seems to operate quite a few times after closing, whether the van is moving or not. The lock works fine either operated at the door or by central locking.
If the lock mechanism sounds as if it's operating while driving, I've operated the drivers door lock button and that seems to stop the problem.

First thought is dirty contacts and I'm going to get some switch cleaner.

Any other ideas?
Freda now gone, :-/ But nice wee Burstner obtained ;-)

Aha,

First thing is clean the 5 contacts on the door and door post, the sprung ones are for the door close mech and the two fixed ones are the door lock. They are powered so use a light sandpaper or kitchen cleaner sponge, don't use wire wool!
