Fresh water tank

Fresh water tank
I have a side conversion. Does anyone know whether the fresh water tank has a drain plug/outlet. Someone has inadvertently filled the tank with diesel and I need to drain it out! And flush it of course. Any other suggestions as to how this can be done inexpensively will be much appreciated.
Re: Fresh water tank
What make conversion is it?
I honestly recon you'll have to replace the tank and pipework, just don't think the smell or taste will come out.
Bad luck.

Re: Fresh water tank
As above that's had it know
You could try fernox LP sterox
It's a silver based tank cleaner safe to drink etc
We you it's to clean water tanks for legionella protection
It would be good for conversion water tanks once a year or more it's safe to leave in best to flush tho
Don't think it will clear diesel tho

Gas safe heating engineer / plumber if you need any advice just shout.
Re: Fresh water tank
You would need a degreaser first to remove the diesel, then have the challenge of removing the degreaser but to be honest I would just change the tank

Re: Fresh water tank
Change the tank - you'll never get rid of the taste or smell of diesel. Depending on what conversion you have will determine level of difficulty. Imperial in their conversions, it is mounted vertically behind drivers seat & would take about an hour to remove. Wellhouse put in the area where rear heater used to fit so will probably require the whole unit to be removed:

Thank you for all your replies especially the last one. Still not sure how to get the diesel out to start with, guess it will have to be syphoned.

I thought only the teachers I used to work with did that kind of thing!

Wellhouse don't always fit in the position mentioned by Simon as above. My Wellhouse conversion water tank is fitted to the chassis under where the side sliding door is and is quite easy to get at, it is held on by two straps. If yours is a Wellhouse I hope it is like mine and not like the one above.Simon Jones wrote: Wellhouse put in the area where rear heater used to fit so will probably require the whole unit to be removed:

That's cheap and simple. (Like some girls I've been out with.)
Re: Fresh water tank
If I have a functioning rear heater am I ok to assume there no tank behind the driver seat!

Re: Fresh water tank
For all those that asked I have found out that it's probably a 'Clumber' side conversion carried out by Outback Autos in Norfolk. The tank is adjacent to the fuel tank. It has a filler cap that looks like a fuel filler cap, hence the error.
Re: Fresh water tank
For what it worth my son in law did the same thing only with petrol took the tank out tried all manner of cleaners solvents - ended up changing the tank.

At least you're sorted.
