Central Locking Woes

Post by stark » Mon May 23, 2016 2:42 pm

HI

when we bought the bongo we had the lovely chap at 321Away install central locking. This has been great and has worked fine until now.

The clicker is 99% of the time only working for the driver door now. Occasionally it does the other doors but this is really patchy. This has happened before when the leisure battery was depleted, but I've made sure that is charged and has a solid 12v with no change to the behaviour.

Trouble is I'm not at a bit of a loss as to what to check next.

Any thoughts?

The remote Fob's do only operate the Drivers door directly. However the drivers door has a switch on it that then operates the central locking for the rest of the van, so it seems like that is your problem. Possible causes are drivers door loom, most common, central locking module or the switch on the door much less common. Do all your other door controls work OK, mirror, windows, speaker ?

That would hint that several wires in the door loom are breaking - a very common feature - the breaks occur in the loom where it is tied to the door hinge as it goes from Chassis to door. Try moving opening/moving the door slowly whilst trying the controls often they are intermittent but its a handy way of proving the cause of the problem!
See this link for details once you have confirmed it is the door loom!
