I wonder if you can point me in the right direction please mate. I have a 99 Bongo 2.5TD. Last week I dropped it into a garage (RKN Campers) to have an auto term diesel heater and some solar fitted. It all seemed to go fine, and both the solar and diesel heater are working well...
BUT!
Ever since collecting the van, the glowplug light is flashing which I believe indicates an ECU fault. The garage bought a connector off Amazon which seemed to fit, however, it wouldn't light up his diagnostics machine. I don't think it's affecting how the van is running, although it may be a little thirstier than usual, however outside of that seems to be fine.
HOWEVER!
MY OCD is going nuts staring at the bloody light! Any advice you can offer on how to get the fault code off the OBD port, and also, do you have any Bongo friendly garages you can recommend up here, I've done some googling and it's not easy to find anybody that claims to be a Bongo specialist.
Thanks in advance for any support you can provide.

Re: Problem with ECU?
Sounds like the normal problem of having to use Eye and Brain together
There doesn't appear to be an adaptor to create the OBDII standard, so its put the link in and read the flashes from the light to get the error code out.

Thanks for posting that Ian.
Does anyone have any specific instructions for what pins to short circuit and how to read the flashing fault codes??

Thanks, I get what's happening here, but nowhere near brave enough to attempt it myself.
I also found this which hopefully will help the next person that runs into this - http://www.philmcfadden.co.uk/MazdaDiagnosticBox.htm
I'm going to print that off and take that youtube link down to my local auto electrician and see if I can convince him to take a run at it.
Thanks all!

Depending on precise date of manufacture there are changes in the coding, the Factsheets in the Members area show the two digit and four digit codes.

Re: Problem with ECU?
Did you try a search on here for similar issues? There were 2 running at one stage, myself and a guy called Streetwise. We traded info and I got confused as to who started what post, so this one; viewtopic.php?t=77805 is his but has the outcome of mine at teh end which was I needed an ECU. He didn't however and managed to get his fixed just by cleaning earths and electrical connections. I also did that first but it never really helped although I am sure it did no harm but ours ended up at a Auto Electrician who diagnose the ECU and it's now replaced and fine.
We were wondering how this could have happened since it was repaired and we have had quite a few issues with it of late, having been pretty reliable up to that point. We had a guy working on it who did quite good work but he had lots of staff going through the Garage and not really settling. Now I don't know if anyone treated our van roughly when it was there but I think they probably did. It was there for quite a long time on and off and frequently had to be jump started and so on, so I think someone overloaded it, maybe deliberately, maybe out of stupidity, who knows. Things that have gone wrong for example are; our diesel heating (Webasto) suddenly gave up, this turned out to be a control panel issue which usually means a replacement circuit board. It's now wired to permanent live, rather than switched and works OK that way, done by an Auto-spark not me just to try to get as much life out it at possible before it basically will need replaced. Also our compressor fridge didn't work when it came back from the Garage, it was winter so we weren't using it and that also turned out to be a circuit board which needed replaced, then the ECU, I am sure I have missed other small things as well but all a bit coincidental in a matter of a few months me thinks.
Good luck with yours, if there is anything I can help with just drop me a message

Re: Problem with ECU?
Forgot to say, I noticed you are in Johnston, not that far away from me. The guy who fixed ours was in Bathgate, can give you his details if that would help.
