Re: Mr HAYAT-Dodgy Bristol Bongo seller

Hi All, Long time bongo owner here, but just spotted these too good to be true Bongo's on eBay, is this the same guy? What scam is he pulling? We were guessing he's taking £250 deposits then disappearing, or is he just selling dodgy bongos? Interested to know, i knew it must be too good to be true, ...

Re: France - Breakdown Cover

Can highly recommend ADAC for your trip to France. We broke down in mid France last year and they shipped our Bongo home and provided most of our travel costs. You need to translate the site into english as they're based in germany but it's the best I've found so worth the hassle

Re: Urgent help needed, possible head gasket or worse proble

Yeah Mike, I certainly am taking it to Adrian. Have been told by ADAC that it will be a minimum of 3 weeks, that can't come soon enough. Yep, a coolant alarm will definitely be fitted too. I have been looking on bongobits for replacement coolant pipe work, I want piece of mind that it won't happen a...

Re: Urgent help needed, possible head gasket or worse proble

A slightly delayed update from me. We made it home, but the van didn't. It should (fingers crossed) be making it's way back on a transporter from mid France, no idea of time scale yet. I'm going to ring ADAC tomorrow for an update. It's been a very stressful 3 days or so, this was the start of the p...

Re: Urgent help needed, possible head gasket or worse proble

Thankyou guys, my post was a result of a bit of a blind panic so now I'm thinking straight, I have a bit of a plan. I rang Adrian at Japan Direct because the garage here in France assumed it was the head gasket that was gone but I know from reading on here that it's 9 times out of 10 the cylinder he...

Urgent help needed, possible head gasket or worse problem

Hi all, If anyone has any advice what to do right now I'd be eternally grateful. We're in France on holiday camping, the van started to overheat so pulled over on motorway, got towed and took to garage, they fixed a split pipe but now they are saying in broken english the head gasket has gone ie no ...

Re: Is this a good battery?

Thanks for the info guys, sounds like the Bosch is the one to go for, no point in being stranded for the sake of £30 or so I reckon.

cheers

Is this a good battery?

I know a lot of people recommend the Bosch S4 for the 2.5d Bongo but i spotted this and i could collect as it's very local to me, would it be massively different to the Bosch? I think Lucas are a fairly decent make but I don't much much about batteries and cold starting etc. This is the battery I fo...

Re: New stereo draining my battery (I think)

I bought one of those all-singing all dancing units as well - but i put a wee round rocker switch on the sidewall of the little compartment under the radio slot so every time i leave the bongo i just kill all power to the radio. i did this to stop the LB draining whilst stationary. Also, bear in mi...

Re: New stereo draining my battery (I think)

Ah sorry, I meant the power fuse for the radio (the blue one?) and leave the standby fuse as is. I'm sure it can't be as simple as this though!

Re: New stereo draining my battery (I think)

This is really interesting, thanks for explaining it in simple terms. So in theory, could I not just take out the fuse for the power to the radio - ignition, leaving the fuse for the memory intact and this would stop the power being drawn if I leave the van for a week at a time?

Re: New stereo draining my battery (I think)

Thanks Geoff, Is the new fuse box similar to the kit that Willinton do on eBay ie this one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAZDA-BONGO-100-AMP-RELAY-SPLIT-CHARGING-KIT-AUTO-/321057286107?pt=UK_Campervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item4ac08167db I guess you then have to run from the new fuse box to the ...

New stereo draining my battery (I think)

Hi all, I feels like I only post when I have a problem but I'm a regular reader! Over Christmas I changed the old Sony stereo on my 98 Freda for a nice new Sendai 889 which has aux in and bluetooth. The change over went well until I left the van sat for a week and came to start it. It wouldn't start...

Re: Help! Van overheated in manchester city centre just now

Cheers guys. Yeah Adrian said the same about bleeding the system, am going to book it in soon. I drove it home and will check the level before I drive it again. Will it be ok to drive generally if all looks ok on the water level?
