Re: farewell Oldest Bongo 1995-2006
Got someone looking at it , says there's hope. Its all wheel arches the rear the worst and some chassis corrosion. Rocker cover gasket , and lots of minor things which won't fail mot but are annoying... Electric wlndow wiring, radio speaker wiring, all fixable but time cnsuming . and sourcing anothe...

Re: farewell Oldest Bongo 1995-2006
Thanks for all the advice, Bongo isn't going to the scrap yard yet.. still going and a few months MOT. But Advisory list from last time long as your arm!, so time to look for another I think? First bongo was a newer v6 with no real problems. Unfortunately it had to be sold for other reasons :( and w...

Well, my bongo is terminally ill with the dreaded rust disease and too many other ailments so may soon be no more. .... I am very sad as I've had many trips both here and abroad, towing and solo. Who ever has the next oldest bongo, LOOK AFTER IT ! as I have not done and I'm sorry :( His birthday is ...

Re: Newbie question: A bongo as everyday transport?
Well, agree with all of the above! Mine is 21 now, done 168000 ml ( it's converted to miles) I don't know what " model" its called, it's 2.5 diesel 4 wd side conversion with lifting roof. Yes they are " special" and not economical compared with small cars. Fun to drive though, I'...

Re: Roll Call for South Wessex
Hello from Wimborne 8) I'm not new to bongos - first got a V6 6years ago & loved it, but when it went I missed it so much, saw a diesel 4WD full conversion and had to have it! even though it was older. Now I found out it's the oldest on the road! it tows my caravan no problem, even abroad. But f...

Re: Basic MPG stats ?
Never worked out the mpg but I fill up to the lid and re set the mileage (It's converted to miles) and get over 300 to a tank for everyday use. Had 350+ on long motorway journeys doing 55/60. When towing the caravan it was way down, 200 ish.. but I didn't risk letting it go too empty with the carava...

Re: Breakdown Insurance
Been with Scenic Ins. for both my first bongo (v6) and now my diesel, good price. It includes breakdown, recovery home start etc. . also in Europe as well including what I tow. Used it a few times no problem was usually RAC or green flag. Last year I had a flat in the caravan tyre in France, as I ha...
