Re: Flashing Roof Light

Thanks for your help as ever guys. I gave them a squib of wd40 incase some rain got in there during the apocalyptic storms earlier. Will get some switch cleaner tomorrow and see if that helps. Maplins should do that shouldn't they?

Re: Flashing Roof Light

Can they switches be adjusted or is it likely that it needs replacing?

Re: Flashing Roof Light

Sorry I am not being clear, I meant the warning light on the dashboard to say the roof is not closed properly.

Flashing Roof Light

Put the roof up tonight for the first time in a while, now when I close it the roof-open warning light on the dashboard goes off, but starts flashing again about 5 seconds later. I have tried raising and lowering the roof a few times, have lubricated the runners etc. Also checked inside roof tent to ...

Re: Stereo woes

Worth checking the voltage on the LB too, if its only putting out 11v then you should replace it. The fuse box in the engine bay on mine I think is a DIY effort from the previous owner. Bloody silly place to put it, exposed to the elements and spray from the road. My problems stopped when I replaced ...

Re: Stereo woes

Thanks all for the advice guys, think I have nailed it. There is a fairly badly fitted fuse box in the engine bay under passenger seat that is part of the dual charging set up. I was cleaning up some of the contacts today and three of the spade connectors snapped pretty much as soon as I touched ...

Simon Jones wrote:Have you checked fuse 1? If that has blown (or is making intermittent contact) that will give flashing glow plug light and as I recall, can knock the stereo out.
Fuse 1 is missing, am told because of dual charging circuit? If dual charge circuit knackered would that cause same effect?

Re: Stereo woes

Thanks for that. BTW it's the glow plug light that is flashing not the hold light, what does that signify, is it related to the scav fan at all?

Re: Stereo woes

I'm a little surprised that the voltage fell so low with the full load on, I'm wondering if your alternator is on the edge ?
Not knowing which type of split charge relay you have, stick the voltmeter on the L/B and then start the engine, the voltage may go up to 14.5v straight away (in which case ...

Re: Stereo woes

Thanks Geoff, I will have another loom tomorrow night. I suspect all is not well with the LB charging circuit, it all looks a bit bodged to me. I did check the LB voltage with engine running and it didn't change. I am wondering if maybe I have a belt slipping perhaps that is restricting the charge ...

Re: Stereo woes

Ok, checked the LB and it is reading about 12.5v. The starter battery measures about 12.4v with engine off, 14.5v with engine running. I then turned on lights, air con, fan on full blast front and back and the voltage on starter batt dropped to about 12.5, LB stayed at 12.5. Tried to switch stereo ...

Re: Stereo woes

Has it always done this or has it only recently started ?
Started a few months back. I checked LB and it was dead, only chucking out 10.5v. Changed to new one but still happening. Only use bongo at weekends so shouldn't have flattened battery but will check tomorrow. Can't think what would be ...
