I was told they fitted a new one.
I did wonder if it might be coming from the pipe at the top as there is a slight oil slick down from there, but it the two rocker cover bolts are definitely damp around the edges so I suspect they are the source. I tried tightening them but they didn't want to ...

Re: Is this leak normal?
Thanks guys, that's very helpful - it isn't losing much oil as far as I can tell (none on the driveway and the oil level is fine according to the dipstick) so I'll try gently tightening the two offending bolts as suggested and keep an eye on it.
Many thanks,
Jamie

Is this leak normal?
Hi folks,
I've had a bongo for around 6 months now - it came with a pile of issues when we got it and one of the things I noticed was a damp patch on the engine block. We took it to Dairsie Autopoint to get a number of things sorted and one of the things they said it needed was a new inlet manifold ...

Hmm, starting to wish I'd asked this question before buying a £25 bottle of the stuff from Halfords!
Now, where did I put that receipt.....

 My tip is DON'T GO ON THE RIVER WHEN I'M FISHING!
Now now, plenty of room for the both of us :-)
However you do it(rack) be careful, i saw a bongo with kayak carrier on at the beach not long ago, and the rack had ripped his roof open. looked like an expensive repair job needed ...

Re: Tips for canoeists and kayakers
That sounds like a good, simple system for a sea kayak Diplomat - I think my canoe would be too heavy but it would work well for lighter sea boats.
Stuc, I suspect I'll find that a bit of an issue too - maybe you could make some sort of bubblewrap cover for the buckle so you can loop it under the ...

Tips for canoeists and kayakers
Hi folks,
After asking lots of questions and getting lots of useful advice from forum members, I've got some ideas to share on roofbars which might be useful to any paddling bongo owners out there.
I discovered that the old Paddy Hopkirk roofbars I had for my previous car fit well into the threaded ...

Slick 50, and overfilling my oil
Hi folks,
I've bought a 750ml pack of Slick 50 to put in my oil (another Torchwood recommendation to help the mpg), but I don't have tools or time to drain 750ml of the existing oil out of the sump before doing this. Will it cause any issues to overfill the oil by 750ml overall? The oil is only a ...

Hi folks,
Having read Torchwood's guide to getting better mpg, I'm interested in fitting larger wheels to our Bongo, but I've got a few questions which I wondered if anyone might be able to enlighten me on?
- Our Bongo is 4WD, so we'd need to fit larger wheels all round - has anyone fitted 16 or ...

Dodgy fuel gauge - earth fault?
Hi folks,
Having fuelled up our new Bongo a few times now, both when the needle was well into 'empty', the most I've been able to put in was 47 litres (40 the first time), which seems odd because as far as I can tell they all have 65l tanks (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm new to this)! Is this common ...

Re: Funny noises from my new Bongo :-(
It's been pointed out to me that I'm not allowed to name names on the forum so my post above has been edited (I should have read the rules first), but if anyone is keen to know the garage in question, send me a PM (I've sent you one steviebongo). In fairness having double checked the MOT certificate ...

Re: Funny noises from my new Bongo :-(
I contacted the seller , but he was rude and unhelpful, and claimed the glowplugs and timing belt were new (without being able to offer any proof). He said if the steering coupling was badly worn then it would have failed it's MOT (which he carried out in his own garage). A great shame, I'm ...
