Re: ABS sensor under dash. What's it called?

Hiya, it was Allan we took it to today (very nice chap, by the way!) he wasn't sure of its proper name and suggested we buy one from JL Bongo (I think) on ebay but I can't find him. Will contact Allen tomorrow to double check what we need.

Yep 4WD. Will ring around tomorrow. Hopefully it's not too expensive! Thanks for your help.

Re: ABS sensor under dash. What's it called?

Thanks for that. Am I right in saying it's the 437G0 part? Anyone know where I can buy one from? Nothing showing up on ebay :(

ABS sensor under dash. What's it called?

Been told we may need a new abs sensor (not in the wheels) under the dashboard. Mechanic calls it a g sensor but not finding anything online. Any ideas anyone? I want to find out how much they are.

Re: Coolant alarm questions...

Thank you that's really helpful! We've talked about the bongo bash and would love to go, but it's a long drive from Devon and we can't really afford it this month. Otherwise that would of been a very good solution :)

I take it the £78.95 bongo alarm is what most ppl buy?

Coolant alarm questions...

Thinking about getting one of these after pay day and was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions for me:

1. Where do you get them from
2. How much are they
3. Do they need to be fitted by a mechanic (partner and I are not mechanically minded in the slightest)
4. How do they work and do ...

Re: Have I made a Freda boo boo ?

To be honest, it was the issues that weren't on the mot that concerned me! So as long as nothing major needs doing I expect you'll be fine... But a good service and check over by someone who knows bongos is a good idea. The guys on here told me it wasn't worth getting just anyone to look at it. I ...

Re: Have I made a Freda boo boo ?

Hi, we bought our bongo with a few advisories, one of which was an oil leak. We took it to the garage and the leak was quite extensive, the engine was covered in oil. However the mechanic wasn't worried at all, they tightened up all the rocker something or others (I'm no mechanic!) and it's not ...

Re: Most expensive repair...

Only experienced this as a scare so far. Bought our bongo last week and thought the head gasket might need replacing after an initial inspection by a bongo specialist. Turns out it doesn't, but this is a common problem with the diesel 2.5. Apparently it can be helped/avoided if it's looked after and ...

Re: Please help... Bongo crisis!!!

I know, it's my sensible head saying noooo you spent all your savings AND you got into debt as well. We started off just needing an extra run around due to change of jobs - but got carried away. We've decided to okay it by ear. Luckily we got it cheap with not that many miles and cosmetically it's ...

Re: Please help... Bongo crisis!!!

Just thought I'd check in and let you all know how it went. Picked up the Bongo from the garage in Topsham today and paid a whopping £900 or thereabouts for parts and repairs. It's had a full service and a good check over, along with new radiator, abs pump, electric window thingy, amongst a number ...

Clearly I'm a good example as to why you should not buy privately and if you do take a mechanic unless you know your stuff anyway lol ;)

Re: Can you avoid a head gasket change...

I have read them. Since spoken to three mechanics and it's with one specialist who say if it's pressuring then it's probably already gone. Just gutted we are in this position as we wasted our saving buying this thing and will now prob have to sell it for less.

Can you avoid a head gasket change...

We still have the major issue looming over us with the head gasket, which was most likely caused by the radiator not being replaced when the gasket was last done 18 months ago (pre our ownership).

As far as I can tell so far from the limited info I have, it's not losing water was but it is ...

Re: Please help... Bongo crisis!!!

Thanks to everyone for your replies. Our Bongo is currently with Topsham Car Sales (a specialist import garage near Exeter), we wouldn't get it looked at by a garage that didn't know Bongos, just in case. We have decided to give them the go ahead tomorrow morning to fix all the wear and tear bits ...
