Re: European Road Trip - Gas
Hi Billy, personally, I'd just take a full 907 (that's 2.75 kg Butane) as they are easy to get refilled in most European countries. You could buy (on ebay) an smaller empty 901 - 400g (or 904 - 1.8kg ) to take with you for 'emergency' then you won't run out of gaz. They don't take up much room. I do...

Re: Another Coolant Alarm Issue
You can purchase very reasonably priced alarms on eBay or direct from the seller , the guy that makes them has a very good reputation on a few Forums. If you are bothered by Sloshing just fit a longer screw. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121532137275?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AM...

Re: European Breakdown Insurance
Well, I've taken out a breakdown policy with quotelinedirect http://www.quotelinedirect.co.uk/breakdown/
For the price it does seem to be good value for money as it covers 12 months UK and Europe (30 days single trip/ 60 days total) Covers vehicles up to 20 years old. Cost was £59.00 !!

Re: Another Coolant Alarm Issue
Ours has a short delay built in so sloshing about is not a problem.....also it self tests every time you switch on the ignition. We do not use a 555 Aha .. those are both very good ideas =D> - I'll see if I can do that as well with my circuit. So, my design was from the 70's - now just realised how...

Re: Another Coolant Alarm Issue
Haydn - The Landy alarm I made didn't have a float system, too much swaying about in them motors for that  I have a feeling it used a 555 and a transistor ... must find diagram. After a lot of digging about here's the circuit I used for the coolant alarm - it has a single probe in the coolan...

sorry, Sam. bad gender guess ...
Rather than visit a garage, you might find another bongolier on your doorstep if we knew (roughly) the area you reside in, then maybe someone from here could take a look for you.

Re: European Road Trip - Gas
Last time I got gaz in France the LeClerc price was 22.50 Euro for 907 exchange. Leroy Merlin in Calais (at Coquelles near Auchan) was only 18.85 Euro. In the UK it's about £30.00 well, there's a surprise! If you don't need gaz before you get to France then wait if you want to save a tenner or so!

Re: European Road Trip - Gas
Calor Gas (or Supergas) are not available in mainland Europe, so either carry sufficient gas to last for the duration of your stay or use Campingaz, which is butane and the regulator screws on the top of the cylinder. (Butane is a more efficient heat producer in summer conditions, but becomes less s...
