Re: Bongo not wanting to start in the mornings, please help :)
Next port of call would be the cold start solenoids. THe rubber hoses at this age are very brittle and tent to crack and leak if not fail alltogether.

Re: Rust too bad?, should i walk away?
That actually doesn't look too bad, when yoy see a bad one you'll realise. Underseal isn't the magic bullet people say it is, when done poorly, rust can still occur underneath and it's extremely hard to tell until it gets very bad. I would prefer to buy non-undersealed so you see what you're getting...

Re: Solar Charge Controller
Those kind of coolboxes use a lot of electricicty and aren't at all suitable for off grid use. They will be fine when driving or plugged in at a campsite but not just relying on that solar panel to keep the battery topped up

Re: New Member from Ireland
The heater controls can't be swapped as far as I know.
I'm actually selling one of the arm rest centre pieces you're looking for, a few other bits and even my van.
Haven't advertised on Donedeal yet but up on Adverts.ie

Re: Component Mounting Advice
I haven't looked at any of.your photos but there's a decent bit of space in the passenger footwell which doesn't impede on legroom if used. It'd be near enough to both batteries for the DC DC charger at least

Certainly the filters etc can be got from any motor factors, they normally can look it up if you bring in the old one.

Re: Fortnight in Ireland coming up
Bongo are brilliant for the WAW, ideal size for some of the small country roads. Have a route planned? I find it better to travel north, as this means you are on the sea side of the road for views as you drive.

Re: Battery power problems
It sounds like you may have an inverter and were using power from the 12v battery as opposed to the hook up. Can you trace the 240v wiring and see where it goes? Sometimes these just go to standalone sockets after the fuse box, so will not charge the 12v system. If there's a battery charger connecte...

Re: HVO
I'm not sure it's available to the public at forecourts as of yet but it is available commerically if you have your own tanks in a depot for example. The Irish postal service are using it as a trial and reporting 90% reduction in CO2 versus DERV. I'm not sure if it's just the newer spec diesels that...

HVO
Just came across HVO yesterday through work, which is apparently a drop in replacement for diesel. 90% reduction in co2 emissions for a (currently) 10% increase in price.
Has anyone tried this in their bongo?
What about low emission zones etc?
