Re: Valve stem oil seals
Bit late I know but... Valve seals letting go can usually be seen after heavy engine braking and then hard acceleration producing smoke. Unburnt fuel collecting in the bores after a long stand would give erratic initial firing and smoke at start up. I would be thinking of injector/s letting by when ...

Re: Diagnose more V6 emissions? (CO,but Lambda seems fine) DON'T DELETE
You should also check the Coolant Temperature Sensor as this may be faulty and giving a "cold engine " signal to the EMS. This is not the same as the temp sender, fitting a new cat with a 7% reading will damage the new cat in time. Readings need to be at least the same as for a non cat eng...

Re: Workshop Manual for Petrol Bongos: Advance Orders
Ian has 2.5 WLT engine manuals at £7.50 on CD that covers all you need motor wise, if you are looking for running gear and body stuff you will need a chassis manual as far as I'm aware only in book form. Looking on Bongoland it appears that you have to buy the petrol engine manual to get the chassis...

Re: What have I done
Has the wiring been chewed?
We're there any codes prior to sensor change?
Does the vehicle start and run OK?
How did you retrieve the codes?
Have you cleared codes?
If yes, did they all come back exactly?

ignition key stuck.
Afternoon Bongo peeps. I have a problem with the ignition key not being released when parking up. I can see the issue is the release cable under gear lever and a bit of a push releases the catch and key can be removed. It's been like this for a while but having recently parked my Smart car in a ditc...

Re: Rear Inner Arch replacements
The way you do the inner arches is to simply use another pair of outer arches welded to the inner arch and then spot weld around the flange where it meets the new outer. I have seen on another post about bonding the old inner arch, as it was from the factory, the problem with doing this is that if t...

Re: Advice on treating rust
My two cents worth. I use Fertan to help remove and convert the rust. Simply paint it on and wash it off. It will remove some of the scalings too. It forms a good surface to paint straight over without any primer. Follow the instructions. If you do use Hammerite for the finish make sure you key the ...

Battery Charger
The battery charger fitted to the Bongo has given up the ghost and I need tp replace it. As it sits behind the sliding door step cover I am limited to the size of the replacement. I have seen this: https://advancedbatterysupplies.co.uk/product/numax-122000hd/ It is almost the same size (slightly sma...

Re: Revs hunt when idle
You should check the basics first before suspecting sensors etc they can be an expensive learning curve. First I would go for a check of all the air and vacuum pipework look for cracks etc. Air leaks wil cause the idle speed control valve to try and compensate and your emmisions will be all over the...
