Re: Starting problems

Thanks again for the suggestions - I'll ask my mechanic to try these though I think he's thinking it may be electrical but that would involve much more expense I fear.

Re: Starting problems

Mechanic gained access to the sender unit in the tank today and guess what? - no strainer. Having said that there is fuel reaching the engine but it still refuses to fire. The only way it will start is to spay Bradex into the air intake and once going it runs like a dream. I think we are at the end ...

Re: Starting problems

Thanks mickc. I take it this could still accumulate debris even with regular diesel?

Re: Starting problems

Okay - an update after nearly five weeks. My mechanic has tried all the things suggested here including replacing the injectors after they tested poorly. The van runs much more smoothly but still has an intermittent starting problem following a short run. I agreed to repost here for any other sugges...

Re: Starting problems

Many thanks for your replies - I'll try the fuel cap suggestion first and then fuel filter. I should add that the difficulty starting seems to be primarily when the engine is not fully warmed although not exclusively. I have also had a couple of occasions recently when even after starting easily fro...

Starting problems

Just recently I have had difficulty starting my bongo after a short journey. My mechanic says that the fuel pump seems fine and he didn't have a problem with starting up but could be an intermittent problem. Today after a short journey I couldn't get my bongo to start but the engine turned over fine...

I need to extend one of the rear seat belts in our 1995 Bongo but can't seem to find anything suitable. Any suggestions welcome.

Re: Bongo friendly garage required

The garage (Rogersons) in Kirkcudbright use to import Bongos some years ago so I knew ours (Barry) was in good hands. Full service carried out with health check, air con belt and alternator belt replaced. Cam belt (supplied by me) replaced. Running like a dream even in its 21st year. Highly recommen...
