Re: 0400, 1228 & the EGR

Happy new year guys, hope you’re all staying safe and sane! Finally went to revisit this problem since the old girls getting use ferrying kids and bikes... albeit in limp home mode! My immediate kick in of the error is obvious after a look today, the actuator arm doesn’t even move when revving immed...

Re: 0400, 1228 & the EGR

I’ve taken the girl to my go-to garage who checked an awful lot, both at cold and operating temp and we’re none the wiser. Pipes and solenoids all seem golden although I don’t believe the scavenger can temp switch was checked. The conversation ended with ‘is it worth taking a punt on a new turbo?’. ...

Re: 0400, 1228 & the EGR

Coming back with a broken heart to report that after many trouble free miles, the errors are back and back with gusto. I’ve been running on the ‘good’ diesel since I thought I solved the problem and repeated the mr muscle clean but the errors and loss of power now happen as soon as the engine gets t...

Re: 0400, 1228 & the EGR

No problem. Let us know if it works for you. I fear it may be an annual clean. I know just how much heartache and headache this causes, I hope this is able to resolve it for others. Rhonda boy, you’re probably far more adept at this than I am but wow, those three bolts! Several days of frequent wd40...

Re: 0400, 1228 & the EGR

Hi guys, Sorry I’ve been gone so long. Kids, work, health, lock down.... I finally got round to trying the suggestion on Facebook to clean the turbo. Difficult to give her a proper run but I’ve had a few essential journeys now with no issues. Also left her to idle for a few hours with no issues. I’m...

Re: Free full size spare

We visit family in Yorkshire now and again so could do m4/m5 rather than a449 but no plans for a trip up north just yet. She’s only back on the road recently after a long time sitting so we haven’t any meets booked in at the moment but who knows. I’ll keep them in the shed until the wife spots them....

Free full size spare

I have one full size standard wheel free, to collect in Cardiff.

Please note, tyre came back as an advisory at MOT but only had 4 miles on it since as wheels changed immediately after returning from garage.

Re: 0400, 1228 & the EGR

I may have taken a baby step forward and thought I’d share should it prove to be a resolution but I’ll let you know how it goes. A few comments left on my sos on Facebook prompted my actions. I believe the vertical rod in the pictures above opens the turbo vanes. When cold, I moved this rod up and d...

Re: 0400, 1228 & the EGR

Today I’ve removed both egr valves and cleaned, I wouldn’t say they were too dirty. Also cleaned out the section that split the gas into the two valves. First run with the pipe and valves in place: 0400 and 1228. When cooled I removed the pipe and only blanked off the exhaust(?) end leaving the valv...

Re: 0400, 1228 & the EGR

I don’t want to blank off the egr, I want to overcome the errors and have a usable van again.

I’ll happily get it booked in if I can have confidence that cleaning out the inlet manifold will resolve the issues but I can’t afford that expense should I still find myself with the errors.
