Seem to have drifted of the point a bit folks. It occurred to me that looking at awnings compared with the cheaper tents, the awnings are slightly taller and easier to stand up in when your eating your black pudding.

Thank you for the replies. The Fiamma awning sounds interesting. Would that be the 1.9m long for the Bongo? I like the idea of something to counterbalance the weight of the side fitted kitchen when driving with just the driver and one passenger (doesnΒ΄t apply with 6 people I guess). With a pop-top, ...

Kind of makes you wonder if regular and premium come out of the same tank! Certainly different brands if petrol come from the same depot. I did hear once however that the Shell tanker drivers carried a plastic container of magic liquid to add to the petrol to make theirs a bit special. Sounds a bit ...

Drive away awning vs stand alone tent

Can anyone please tell me what are the main advantages of a drive away awning over a stand alone tent. Are you less likely to tread dirt from the awning into the Bongo for example? Bongo is on order and have booked a holiday in France for next year. Just want to sort out some of the basics. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

Subsequently discovered extensive comments on this topic, but I think most are aimed at AFT 's and don't know if anyone has tried anything other than plywood.

Pop-top access

Sorry if this topic has been covered before but ........ Can anyone tell me if they have come up with a good design of floor/access for an after market pop-top. I have a Bongo on order which will probably come with a series of plywood panels. I guess this will work, but doesn't seem very user friend...
