Re: Low coolant alarm saved the day

I replaced ours and even with the van on the diy ramps giving and 8 inch rise it was awkward but doable. Don’t envy you under a Bongo this time of year. Good luck have fun.

Re: 2.0 Bongo struggling to start in rain

Start her up when it’s dark, if you have any damaged leads you can sometimes see a spark across to an earth (engine block). Don’t put your hands near anything just observe.

Re: 2.0 Bongo struggling to start in rain

If it continues to have issues starting, replacing the distributor cap, rota arm, leads and plug’s should help. There’s two types of distributor, a 4 wire and a 5 wire and you’ll see what yours is just by looking at it. Once fitted quick spray with ignition sealer.

Re: Odd electrical boxes

Open the doors and see if you can see the cable routed from under the screen and down behind glove box. That's the easiest way I found to get cable up onto top of dashboard. Then follow cable - probably goes somewhere behind the head unit.

Re: Odd electrical boxes

VICS = Vehicle Information and Communication System. It's a Japanese system for traffic info etc. The little one looks like a gps receiver.

Follow the wires back and see if they are still connected to anything.

Getting access…..

Does anyone know if you can remove the rear speakers and get access to the forward edge of the internal rear wheel arch? I’m wanting to spray some Lanoguard type product in there to protect the inner arch. I can see how I can remove the rear light cluster to get at the rear edge of the arches. I’ve ...

Re: Another MOT passed and hello to old friends

Ww’ve had our Bongo for just over five years. Like yours it has never let us down ( gulp, I’ve said it now). Passed MOT each year without advisories and has this year been treated to new rear arches. Originally used as a weekend vehicle but I prefer driving the Bongo so sold my car. Now my daily run...

Evidently so, and in this case it was a pleasant trick she was hiding.

We’ve had our Bongo five years and in all that time I wasn’t aware if you unlock the van with the key fob but don’t open a door the van will lock itself again after 30 seconds. I’ve had that on other cars in the past but wasn’t aware of this feature on our Bongo. You learn something new every day. :D

Good choice of campervan, I think quite a few of us will eventually join the Alphard crowd when our Bongos eventually reach the end of their lives.

Re: Leisure battery charging with Cold Start option

Good job on the starter battery clamp I’d not noticed that. I’d also suggest getting some battery terminal covers. In a worst case scenario it’s possible the bonnet could make contact and arc across the un protected terminal posts.

Re: Leisure battery charging with Cold Start option

I’m no expert with the electrical wizardry however in your photos it appears you have a 70amp as the starter battery. I think that’s too small for a 2.5D. I’m not sure why there is a red cable going to the negative on the leisure battery? Maybe previous owner didn’t have any black left but doesn’t l...
