Re: Power Steering Fluid

You may want to have a look/feel around the pipes and steering rack to see if you have a leak anywhere. The top seal on my rack went a while ago and left a visible trail of fluid around the rack, boots, intercooler etc. I had to top up every couple of weeks. Hopefully yours is a tiny leak and nothin...

Re: Power Steering Fluid

Should be fine. I see on the label it's compatible with dextron III which is what Bongos use. They are backward compatible

Re: Harsh gear change 1st to 2nd

Mine does it too. Strangely though, if you accelerate hard it doesn't do it. I find the softer the acceleration, the harder the kick. I do have flashing HOLD with diagnostic code for "Timing solenoid" which I'm about to replace with new solenoid pack this weekend.Hopefully it will cure it ...

WANTED - Intercooler Air Scoop

Hi Guys, Now that the engine is sorted my next job is finding an Intercooler Air Scoop as it never had one. Anyone got a spare hanging around (slim chance I know). I'm in Bristol but regularly go to theme parks so anywhere on M4, M5, M6 en route to Alton Towers, Thorpe Park etc. I'm also near Bognor...

Re: Power Steering Fluid

Yup. Pinion seems to be where it's coming from. Seal ordered from Mike G. Hopefully won't be too bad to fit.

Re: Power Steering Leak

Thanks, I tried looking as Mike (member on here) sourced a load and sold them on here and ebay a while ago but looks like they've all gone. Guess I'll have to get the whole kit if I can't get hold of him. Really didn't want to spend loads as just paid for refurb engine, new rad, oil pump, ATF cooler...

Hi Russell,

Where did you get the £15 seal from?

I have the same issue and can only find the entire seal kit costing £60.

Power Steering Fluid

Hi Guys,

I have found a small leak by the steering rack which I will fix soon but for today I need to top it up.

Can someone please tell me if there is any special fluid or will any red steering fluid work as the stuff in there is red?

Thanks

Thanks. I've seen refurbs on eBay for £160 plus your old one. Does that sound about right?

Engine Mounts

My mechanic pointed out an engine mount is worn but OK for now. Is this something that can be fixed DIY? Where's the best place to get a new one as they are £60 from Ava but only £30 on ebay. How different can a lump of rubber be? If it's a DIY job, how do I go about it? Do I jack up the engine to t...

Turbo Play

Hi Guys,

How much play is acceptable on the turbo bearing? Is it OK as long as the blades don't hit the case?

The chap who just fitted refurb engine pointed it out as something to keep an eye on.

He also pointed out one engine mount is worn out but I'll put that on another thread to keep it tidy.

Thread revival... I've been away for a while after almost giving up on the overheating pile of sh.... Anyway... After a reconditioned engine, new rad, water pump, and oil pump she's now running lovely but the new fuse link, which I got from here, is smoking and keeps smoking even after I hear the re...
