Re: Sill welding
Thanks. Can't complete this for a few weeks until recovered from surgery, but good to know I'm on the right lines

Sill welding
Having to repair my sills following an Mot fail. All very annoying as only two years since I paid a supposedly reputable specialist a lot of money to replace them, and all he seems to have done is fill and paint. I won't give any clues as to who it is as we seem to be heading to the courts. Anyway, ...

Re: Rattling noise
Now sorted. Embarrassingly it was just a slipping belt or belts, but instantly diagnosed and fixed (no charge) by Michael at Bongo Spares. On the plus side it gave me an excuse for one of the best morning's cycling I've had for a long time. Fabulous countryside and great roads between Rishworth and ...

Re: Rattling noise
Well, we did have a good couple of days and no break down. The noise has, however, got worse and I've now been under the van and into both engine covers without finding any loose tin. The crankshaft pully theory is definitely winning at the moment, but I don't fancy this as a DIY, so fingers crossed...

Re: Rattling noise
Thanks all. Couldn't really identify any problem with the pulley, but I'll have it checked out. When I investigated this morning, though, I realised that although the noise went away, it wasn't really warmed up, just settled into a smoother rhythm after a minute or so. Which leads me to suspect a lo...

Re: Rattling noise
I'll take a look this morning. Would replacing the pulley be a major job, and is it safe to drive for a hundred miles or so? Going away for a couple of nights this week, won't be popular if I have to cancel...

Rattling noise
My 2.5 diesel has recently developed a clattering or rattly noise from the engine, possibly further forward, rather as though something is loose. Haven't found anything obvious yet, but the odd thing is that the noise disappears once it is warmed up. Bit of an impossible question, but can any of you...

Re: Head Gasket removal ancillary bits Help!!
and I've not got the rear arches done yet! Hopefully not being pessimistic, just realistic - but if you are having the bodywork done, rather than doing it yourself, have you had it looked at in detail and quoted for? Would be worth knowing as much as you can about the extent and cost of the next st...

Re: Seized alloys - Help/advice please
A couple of ideas: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H7PWwrcGREM Revival of an ancient thread, but wanted to thank Bob for pointing me towards this. I'd spent around 3/4 of an hour trying to remove my seized rear wheel, by various cunning plans, before finding the tip about lying on the floor and kicki...

Re: bongo decals
Unfortunately for those of us looking for replacement decals, this link is just to an intermediate site directing you to a number of unrelated vendors, with no evidence of any Bongo specialism that I could see. No aspersions cast on Les who I'm sure put it up in good faith.

Re: advice before buying my first bongo!!!
Unless it's being bought from a known reputable Bongo dealer, I wouldn't even think about buying without it being viewed underneath by someone who understands about corrosion in these old buses. I knew mine had some issues when I bought it privately last year, but once I really got to grips with it ...

Re: Fiamma 45i Brackets
Fantastic responses, thanks. The corrosion was entirely due to paint failure and neglect by previous owners. At the front bracket the outer skin had holed through and had been patched with a glob of fibreglass which had come loose. Fortunately this was on the small vertical flat section, so I was ab...

Fiamma 45i Brackets
I've just finished repairing serious roof level corrosion caused by the T3 type brackets to the Fiamma 45i awning, the brackets which clamp to the gutter. I'm tempted to change these to the stainless ones from mazdabongo.com, which utilise the bolts to the D hoops. What is confusing me is that mazda...

Re: Hit and run
Bit of a late reply, but been away. If you mean the central vertical member in front of the radiator it should be a simple job to remove and bend or hammer back into shape once the bumper has been removed. Removing the bumper is also fairly straightforward - but be prepared for cutting corroded bolt...

Re: The Rust Directory
Going back to the original intention of this thread, can I put in another strong recommendation for Dave (Kloonsy) at BongoWorx (aka Bongo Body Shop) in Barnsley. They have done a very thorough job on replacing my wheel arches and repairing inner sills and rear crossmember. If you've serious work ne...
