Re: Glow Plugs
Hi Tessie, I did look on the shop here after finding out the shorter NGK plugs were no good but it just stated Aftermarket OEM Quality (No make/spec etc) so just assumed it would likely be the BluPrint plugs. NGK only do the shorter plugs unfortunately, the business end inside the head, thread, volt...

Re: Glow Plugs
Still trolling the net for glow plugs
Just found the NGK’s 5116 Y-701J from a site called the Green Spark Plug Company for £32 for a set of 4, think I paid £50-60 for a set from EuroCarPart... might be useful to others who have the shorter plugs so thought I would share.

Glow Plugs
I can see that the glow plugs has been covered many times & there is a lot of info including a fact sheet, however... Checking the fact sheet & my VIN number it recommended that I needed the short glow plugs for my 98’ Bongo so I ordered a set of NGK 5116 Y-701J These were the short (83mm) p...

Re: Odometer in km or m?
Both my Bongo’s read & count in KM’s but all the MOT history shows this as Miles! It was only on my last MOT that they actually put down KM’s (Picture Attached...) You can check the MOT mileage history with the likes of “My Car Check” App... My ‘98 has 119,000 KM with standard clocks so speedo o...

Re: Instrument Cluster PCB
Perfect, cheers for the info.
Think the glue will be the way to go as the flexible PCB Looks like it would melt way before the solder
Will get some ordered tonight & give it a go when I get a chance.
Thanks for the info & link, will let you know if it works.

Instrument Cluster PCB
Just checking over my other Bongo (Camper) as looking to sell it due to lack of use... Will be putting a fresh MOT on so was giving it a check over as it’s been sitting for a while. Noticed a small weep from the power steering rack so have ordered & received a seal kit from the shop, just need t...

Re: 0400, 1228 & the EGR
Finally got to the bottom of the flashing glow-plug Light... Removed the passenger seat hatch & watched the actuator... seemed very sticky then would close & enter limp mode (flashing glow-plug light) Moves the actuator a few times with a pair of pliers & it burst back into life for a sh...

Re: 0400, 1228 & the EGR
Hey All, Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this? I have 2 Bongo’s the latest being the newer (‘02) which is constantly getting on my nerves! I have replaced all the Vacuum Solenoid Valves, pipes, Scavenger Fan temp switch, cleaned EGR’s etc but all to No avail! When I replaced one of the VSV’s on...

Skilled Russians on Bongo Frendee... Lol Ok. If anyone have a question - welcome Selfdiagnostic Ten-Gnd Hi Metalhead, I have 2 flashing fault codes, 0400 & 1228 on my 2002 2.5TD. I have dismantled & cleaned the EGR & Intake system & completely cleaned it all. Erased the fault codes ...

Re: Diagnostic Tool Help
Not sure any of the scan tools with adapters will work but the diagnostic fault codes can be read fairly easy using a short wire (when you get your head around the flash sequence)
I’ve just had a recent issue with one of my Bongo’s so it’s all still fresh in my head if you need any advice.

Re: Bongo Diagnostics
Perfect, thanks for the replies. @Bongofamily thanks for that, sounds spot-on. I made up a short wire with 2x non insulated blade terminals that fit in the diagnostic connectors. Shorting TEN & GND. Ignition On, GlowPlug light come on for approx 3.5 seconds then off for 2.5 seconds (Welcome/ente...

Re: Bongo Diagnostics
Thanks for the replies. I’m based in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire so think they are a bit out of the way but may consider taking it down as can’t seem to get any joy in my area. I’m a full paid-up member & did check the fact sheets etc but it’s still not very clear & a little contradicting at times...

Hi, i’m new to all this so apologies if anything’s not quite right. I now have 2 Bongo’s but unfortunately my newer 2002 2.5TD is a little sick. It starts & drives fine but after heating up the glowplug/scavenger light keeps flashing (no sequence, just on/off/on/off) i got all the diagnostic inf...
