Re: need idler pulley for alternator drive belt
Can you tell me where I can buy this idler pulley wheel from, it's for a 2000 Bongo Friendee 2.0 petrol FE engine. I can find lots of Bongo idlers but they are all the wrong ones. It's carried in a triangular 3-bolt bracket above the alternator. Or in the alternative, can the old bearing be ...

Re: Bongo having trouble starting
I had a car that would do this (Toyota corolla) turned out to be the contacts in the ignition barrel. I had to turn key and hold it for a bit for it to wake up. Ended up putting some electrical contact cleaner on key and wiggled it around and it sorted it out for a bit. Maybe worth trying...

Re: Another problem. Fluctuating revs on hills.
Thanks for all the replies, I have limited tools with me but have cleaned the banjo filter without any change to symptoms. However it drives fine as long as I don't push it over 3000rpm it will also Rev over 3000rpm without any issue in neutral. The problem seems to have coincided with a difficulty ...

Re: Another problem. Fluctuating revs on hills.
Yes sorry there's maintenance being carried out so we cant use the workshop. It's nice to have a break tho. 😉
This one is hard to guess without warning lights or fault codes.
A few ideas -
Dirt in the banjo filter in the fuel pump.
Blocked air filter
Low gearbox oil level.
Sensor problem ...

Re: Another problem. Fluctuating revs on hills.
I emailed Allan's before I left to try book the bongo in for a check over but he is away this week :(
It shouldn’t be the alternator as I am on my 2nd in a matter of weeks (after finding a fault with signal wiring all is fine now and volt meter was constantly on for the whole trip and all is ok ...

Another problem. Fluctuating revs on hills.
Hi all, well we made it to Devon from Suffolk but a new problem emerged
When accelerating up a steep hill the Rev counter will get to about 3k rpm and then bounce between 3 and 2.5rpm and the speed will not increase above 30mph. On the run it sat happily at 60ish and no problems. It's a bit like it ...

Rear wheel spin and noises from 4x4 Bongo
Hi all
Off to Devon tomorrow from Suffolk in our Bongo. I have noticed that when the van is on full lock there is a "slipping" feeling from the rear wheels, and its not too difficult to spin the rear wheels when accelerating out from a stand still. Well, it feels like its a wheel spin but may not ...

Re: Electrical problems... please help, its my birthday!
Just to update - I had an auto electrician out this morning and all is fixed.
The fuses board under the bonnet had a corroded connector on the board to loom plug. This caused the headlights to not work (even though a current was going to board) and as there was no reference voltage for the ...

I had problems with the charge and sediment light on my Bongo and changed the Alternator for a new one, which worked great for a few hundred miles and then the problem reappeared with the new alternator kicking out over 15v. So I sent it back and am awaiting a return. While i was waiting I ...

Re: Difficult cold starting and white smoke
Hi
I had some intermittent starting issues and after cleaning up all the earth points under the bonnet the van now springs into life first thing without any issues. I think there was a poor earth connection which somtimes when damp wasnt working very well.. Worth trying as free!

Re: Battery and sediment light after new alternator
So, an update! Went to take Bongo for a quick run to warm her up and check voltage and the alternator is not kicking anything out at all now.
So I have ordered a used one and will send back the new one for a replacement. It had a years guarantee so should be covered.
Hopefully that is the end of ...
