Re: Camping in France

Don't know how long you're going to be going through France or how familiar you are with doing so, but most towns somewhere have designated Áires', places set aside (usually free) for motorhomes. You sometimes get electric/water, you sometimes get a corner of a car park, but it means you can saunte...

Re: Running on veg oil & Biodiesel mix??

Well, just completed a 300 mile round trip to the lakes on Bio with about 40% rapeseed, driving the same as ever, no extra struggles going up hills, managing 70mph motorway without grumbling.... It's probably just a honeymoon period but everything seems kushty so far! :) (Oh, and the 14 quid KTC wa...

Re: Top 5 must haves for bongo camping?

Can't believe a thread on camping essentials got to 5 pages without a mention of wet wipes! Beer and jump leads... Even if you're not Bongoing, that's the ingredients for a good evening :D a converter to allow you to use your 12v cigarette lighter sockets as a usb port, there's all sorts of ...

Re: Running on veg oil & Biodiesel mix??

Re: Running on veg oil & Biodiesel mix??

Thanks for the feedback everybody :) The 'new' Bongo is still pretty old (1997 vintage) which I think makes it old enough to cope? My only real worry has been about the seals, do people reckon I'll have plenty of warning if they're going on me, or is it just going to go kaput halfway down the motor...

Re: Fuel Consumption

My fuel gauge on my last Bongo died and remained dead for a good long time, in that time I ran out of diesel a good few times before deciding on the golden rule that '500Km is an empty tank' and anything over that is good luck. If you keep a jerry can in the back (diesel is safe to carry and some ty...

'luxury'camping chairs 12 quid at Lidl

Lidl started doing camping chairs in their specials yesterday. Advertised as 17 quid but sold for 12 in the local branch. Built in çoolbox bit big enough for a couple of cans, magazine pouch, cup holder, wineglass holder, padded head rest and bits of seat padded too. Bought 2 :) Seem sturdy and dura...

Running on veg oil & Biodiesel mix??

Hi :) This might sound like a numpty question, but when it comes to fuel all that I know is that oil doesn't belong in the ashtray and that as much of it as possible needs to stay in the ground. I know people on here tend to say 50:50 veg:diesel with KTC being a popular fresh veg option. My questio...
