Re: Automatic gearbox fault

Update on the gearbox fault. ATF changed and filter cleaned. Crank sensor changed. Solenoid pack changed. Fault still present! Took it to Martin at DRA Services Croydon who without looking diagnosed a faulty throttle position sensor (on the diesel pump). I had recently replaced the pump which in its...

Re: 2.5d 1995 Auto gearbox/solenoid/accumulator springs

Problem solved. I realised, after 24 hours of forums and research, that I do have a brain. The springs are designed to fit the pot! there is no way of going wrong even if they fall out while you are lowering the valve body. See attached photo. The actuator at the left of the springs has a spring beh...

Re: 2.5d 1995 Auto gearbox/solenoid/accumulator springs

Ok...after further research using the lushprojects diagrams I reckon that pot 4 (from the front) has no accumulator spring as it has an internal spring.
That means 3 pots 3 springs. Pot 2 appears to have a larger spring leaving me to choose between the 2 smaller springs. 50/50?

2.5d 1995 Auto gearbox/solenoid/accumulator springs

Done 2 stupid things! 1. In lowering the valve body (replacing solenoid pack) I failed to note (late in the day and lowering from the drivers side) the order of the accumulator springs. One largest and fatter than the other 2 which are of a similar length but one slightly larger diameter. I am assum...

Re: Rev Counter related to Auto Box fault

Guessing it is a speedo fix(?) as the wire replaced (blue/white) is on the terminal block/socket which plugs in behind the speedo, whilst another of the wires goes to the SP+ on the circuit...(SP = speedo?).
Why does the Bongo need a speedo fix?

Re: Rev Counter related to Auto Box fault

I found a black block wired (3 wires) into the back of the circuit board......wondered what it was! All seemed good. Any way of testing?

Re: Rev Counter related to Auto Box fault

I was just about to ask if anybody knew the signal order. Makes complete sense now....so I don't need to worry so much about the counter dial.....I have a new sensor......so I probably need a solenoid pack for the gearbox......thanks Bongo friends!

Rev Counter related to Auto Box fault

I have a gearbox fault on my 1995 2.5dreported in a very recent topic. I have just replaced the crank/pulse sensor to get the rev counter from behaving badly (intermittently) to no effect as the rev counter is still intermittent which means that the data being sent to the gearbox solenoids is someti...

Re: Automatic gearbox fault

Needed the crank sensor to get the rev counter working again. Will then review the performance of the auto box. May still need the solenoid pack. The gearbox makes no noise, changes through the gears well and pulls me uphill with no problems whatsoever. Happy to hear what you have to say. Many thanks!

Re: Automatic gearbox fault

I had just ordered the new crank sensor. Didn't realise that it could effect my gearbox.....makes complete sense and cheaper than solenoid pack!
Thanks.

Re: Automatic gearbox fault

Yes, I get a glowplug flash as the gearbox kicks itself down. I used the guide you kindly sent last week to change the ATF and clean out the filter.
I will go for the solenoid pack.
Thanks for your help.....will report back when done.

Re: Automatic gearbox fault

OK. So I am getting nothing from the "reader" socket having tried all combinations and instructions available in the link. I have tested the bulb holder on the battery and the +B/ground on the socket. All good. I have tried paper clips and different gauge wires to no effect and I assume th...

Re: Automatic gearbox fault

Have no joy trying to get a code. Does the bulb have to be 12v LED?
