Re: Cutting out and no power
Go back over all those vacuum lines and check your air filters clean I've just had the exact symptoms you describe which caused crappy running at low speeds though this was on a carbed machine which had managed to gulp in a lot of midges so I removed the carb and cleaned it out too, just finished tw...

Re: Where to put power management system
Ours is also in the passenger footwell but mounted up off the floor level so you need to bend to actually see it, the solar charge controller is mounted in the side of the drivers door step.

Re: Rear fog light 2000 X reg
These aftermarket rear foglights are garbage, I've just bought another for the van from a motor factors cost 3.99, I'll fit it when I've got it booked for the MOT. The hilux was the same, it needed a new light every year typical chinese junk. I opened this one up and you'd think it had been operated...

Re: WANTED: Tow Bar/Trailer Hitch in the USA
Yeah should be fine for bike racks or even a small trailer with a couple hundredweight load but I wouldn't push it too far. I reckon the issue with the cracking heads is the same as on the hilux surf, the tranny oil passes through the bottom of the radiator which isn't up to the job once the van is ...

Re: Mazda Bongo Campervans - York
If they're fresh imports they'll be immaculate, the one I viewed in Middlesborough looked like it hadn't been on the road it was gleaming and I'd have taken it but for the lies.

Re: Mazda Bongo Campervans - York
Mine was imported by them and had the sills undersealed the van itself is pretty much rust free three years on and I'm happy with it. I bought it in january from the first owner with 60k miles on the clock, about 95000kilometers with sparse history and the PO didn't have the timing belt changed so I...

Re: WANTED: Tow Bar/Trailer Hitch in the USA
If you find one I suggest not towing anything heavy in those hills, these Bongos overheat and blow cylinder heads just like the hilux of the same era, both jap imports and not designed with towing in mind as the Japanese don't tow. If you can survive without one thats what I'd be doing.

Re: advice please in buying this bongo , is it too much ??
I paid 9K for mine in January, same year, needed a timing belt but has no rusty sills or bodywork, if the clock is reading 122000 its in KM and not miles so roughly 68k miles, I bought this one as a private buy rather than dealer or importer, the local importer had one at 9k too but the salesman tol...

Re: Rust converters, any success.
I've got the drill and grinder wire brush attachments from doing the same job on the imported hilux I had so it looks like I'm all set. In other news I'm almost there with the rear conversion, two more small cuts to box the seats in and just got the sink/cooker unit to screw into position, fit suppo...

Re: NEW MEMBERS! Please say hello here!
Yeah they'll really be doing you a favour not charging for the MOT but charging thousands for a bit of welding work, I suggest paying the MOT and finding an honest garage or a local welder for the work. My neighbour has a Delicia which needed welding, the lad he got brought his kit to the drive cut ...

Yeah I'll most definitely be waiting for the best weather with low humidity, I've worked in the shotblasting/spraying industry over the years and you need the driest of weather to blast then prime, obviously in this case it'll not be being blasted but you still need a good dry day or three even for ...

Well I'm doing internal work on it at present but I'll be getting stuck into the derusting/painting once we're into the summer months.

Mine was the same as yours jilly with the hose disconnected and cant see where it plugged into, pump works fine on mine but even after pushing the hose home and trying the tap nothing coming through it. Just about completed my rear conversion build so will be able to see whats going on after I re-in...

Glad you're feeling OK again, it must have been frightening. We don't realise how fragile we are till we get these wake up calls, its time to take it easy.
