Re: Coolant Reservoir Overflowing - 2.5 diesel

Hi, I hate to say it but your symptoms sound very much like ours, which then turned out to be the cylinder head (cracked). I had bled the coolant about a year before, no issues and it ran fine after that, then we broke down one night and it was pushing coolant out the reservoir. we got recovered hom...

Re: reupholstery

If you are anywhere near Johnstone in Renfrewshire (Scotland) I can recommend Baillies of Johnstone, they used to do a lot of the show cars so their work is top notch and I didn't think too expensive :)

Re: Wishbone ball joint nut

You might be better/easier with just a Nylock nut, probably easier to get and saves the need for a split pin and so on. Given most things have nylocks nowodays they may be cheaper now, not sure but at one time I was quite big on replacing all castelated nuts with nylocks, then you start to see teh d...

Re: Lower wishbone balljoint boots. A Part Number that fits.

This is a good fix, I used to do quite a lot of work on cars and I used to save all the rubbers form old parts that I could but the chances of them fitting something else was relatively slim but it did work sometimes and it's much easier and cheaper to repair in this way especially when the actual j...

Re: Diagnostics.

Didn't get anywhere neat it today anyway, Wife had other ideas. Weather is no better so feeling you are probably right, stay inside, keep warm and wait till I have a light to check out. I mis-understood the post about Fat and Tat, I knew that was what I needed but I thought it was just if I was chec...

Re: Diagnostics.

So today the mist decided not to lift at all and after a hard frost (beginning to sound like a weather report) during the night, it barely melted all day, so freezing. Not deterred (but not inspired either) I headed out to the bongo. I took the Laptop so I could read direct;y off the Phil Macfadden ...

Re: Diagnostics.

Had a quick look today, I think I have just the one socket in the passenger's footwell, with just 10 pins, see here; https://i.imgur.com/dgtDXgy.jpg My van is a 1996 so really shouldn't have anything else and as much as I could see there isn't anything else at he driver's side. From the information ...

Re: Diagnostics.

Re: Diagnostics.

Yes I remember the upside down thing but I couldn't get it to work either way. What I read was when manufacturers talked about OBD1, some manufacturers started to fit it even though it wasn't finalised. It sounded to me that this may have been what happened with Bongos as the time was about right. W...

Re: Diagnostics.

Mine is a 1996 2.5TD 4x4 and it wasn't that I couldn't understand the flashes, the actual wiring didn't match mine and so I couldn't actually connect as it said. I am not aware of any issues at present and if anything were to come up I was going to get the mechanic who gave me the cable to have a lo...

Re: Diagnostics.

So the cable is no good for anything? Does Forescan work, is it worth considering? available in the UK? I did try to do the diagnostics before using the details form the Phil MacFadden website but nothing matched up to my vehicle and it was a waste of time, assuming above doesn't pan out is there an...

Re: Diagnostics.

I have a hand held scanner but I doubt it would connect to the cable either. It came from E.Bay it's pretty basic but it does scan and read codes on a few cars I have tried, mainly Renaults, I was told it would also do Japanese when I bought it and I had a Subaru at the time but it didn't work on it...

Re: Diagnostics.

Thanks for the reply Sotal, I did a bit of a search myself, I think some of the software may have been available in the US taking advantage I think of the Mazda/Ford link but I don't see it available here, one was Toad and the other Forscan (unfortunate name). The cable does connect in at the vehicl...
