Re: Diesel Bongo in Idaho (sometimes drops to -20˚F)

Hi If the weather drops below minus 8 over here (we get as low as -30 occasionally), and the local garages haven't got good winter fuel, I add a diesel depressator such as Castrol TDA. https://autospot.bg/%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B4%D1%83%D0%BA%D1%82%D0%B8/63/%D0%B4%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%B0%D0%B2%D0%BA%D0%B8/...

Re: On no seized engine.

Hi Geoff
Nice one..Could you be tempted to use both?...one for every day, and the other for holidays?
Cheers,

Re: Auto gearbox slow changing up

Hi Allan
Thanks very much...I'll try
I have just done the side seals on the fuel pump, and I'll see what happens. I'm replacing the pump as part of ongoing maintenance soon, so it's a temporary fix. I have a long trip to France next year, so I'm replacing a lot of parts
Cheers

Re: Auto gearbox slow changing up

Hi Ian Thanks. I had wondered whether the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) was an issue, but I don't have much knowledge on it's symptoms of failure. I do get a feel of the throttle wanting to decrease engine speed of it's own accord, so that's what made me wonder. The vacuum solenoids have been repla...

Auto gearbox slow changing up

Hi I have an issue with the auto changing up from first and second when cold, or when left a while whilst out. The first to second goes with a thump, but once warm it seems fine. The fluid level seems fine as far as I can see, but , as usual , it's a nightmare trying to read it. The colour is good, ...

Re: Engine block heater

Hi If it's starting that you're worried about, you can use a diesel depresator in the fuel . They aid the flow of diesel by preventing waxing, and enable starting down to a pretty low temperature. I use one and some years it gets to minus 25C for a short while. I tend to only go out when the roads a...

Re: Engine block heater

Hi There is a fact sheet in the members area...Look at the Engine Pre-heater fact sheet on how to fit the Kenlowe heater. If it's just a case of starting up in cold weather, there are a variety of additives for diesel engines . We get minus 25 C some years where I live and they works down to that te...

Re: Bongos in Denmark?

Hi Your best bet is to consult a local lawyer on the subject...Every country has it's own regulations , regardless of the old wives tales that you hear , and like most aspects of life in another country are subject to their own regulations....The EU does NOT rule everything in the whole of Europe......

Re: Fuel pump seal

Hi I've done the seals before, but this appears to come from above the domed plate????...It's conceivable that it could be spraying upwards???...but in the new year, I'll probably get a new pump....and then there's the issue of finding someone to fit it!.....LOL....I know how, but I don't have the p...

Fuel pump seal

Hi I have / had a starting issue, changed another couple of vacuum lines, even though they appeared undamaged, and the starting was fine???...BUT, there's a leak on the fuel pump (diesel) side plate that the throttle arm fits onto...just above the side-plate (domed) which retains the piston assembly...

Re: vacuum or fuel

Hi
Plonkatronix,
I am sure it will get sorted...The vacuum side of things seems a good place to start, and if no joy, I'll get a new pump...which I plan anyway...

Re: vacuum or fuel

Hi Ady After I wrote that, I thought you meant the fuel pump....The solenoids are a complete new (S/H) set I replaced (from Bongobits) last year...I haven't done more than a couple of thousand Km since then...I looked at the suppliers of diaphragms earlier this morning...I can only find one...do you...
