Re: Knocking sound when idling
Have you tried turning the steering a little when idling? Power steering chatter is not unheard of in Bongos.

Re: Drop link washer
That nut seems very small. If I were you I would check the thickness of the drop link bolts as there are ones around that are too small. The bolts should be m12. which would have a 19mm nut.

Re: Catastrophic cylinder head event - advice needed
As this happened shortly after a cam belt change I would be looking in that area . Pistons and valves easily meet if the timing goes wrong due to incorrect fitting of timing belt

Re: Rear drop link bolts?
I really have no idea as to the correct size nut and bolt but 17mm is a huge bolt and would require a spanner of about 28mm to fit. Maybe the previus poster meant that a 17mm spanner fits in which case the bolt is likely to be 10mm.

Re: ARB drop link question
There shouldnt be play -the correct size' bolt ' in the droplink (front) is 12mm. Sugget you measure your bolt -I have seen thinner ones advertised. However, as you got it from Ian I would expect the correct size bolt. If it is the correct size then maybe the ARB hole is worn. Just had a thought tha...

Re: Clicking noise
Sounds like brake pads to me. Some of the cheaper pads on offer have locating lugs slightly too small causing the pads to flop about !!! Have you changed the padds recently?

Re: Suspension
No -its not normal. You state in another post that you have just had a full conversion. Suggest you have a word with the converters and get their opinion. If you put in your approx location then someone may be able to take a look and give you an opinion or direct you to a local bongo garage to check...

Try putting the steering on full lock and see if the noise disappears.

Re: front and rear brake pads wanted
Be careful buying cheapo ones on ebay. The lugs on some pads are slightly smaller than required causing the pads to flop around and cause annoying noises. I found this out to my cost recently. Also cheapo ones tend to cause a lot of brake dust messing up your alloys.

Re: Removing cubby below radio
you can get at the cubbybox without actually removing the glove box. Just open the glove box and you can get your arm in there OK... The glove box isnt difficult to remove -there are some plastic lugs on the side of the box and you just have to press the box hard to one side and get the lugs to clea...

Re: Removing cubby below radio
I am a bit confused here. I have had my cubby box out many times without any dificulty. I just remove the glove box and then press the cubby box sideways and forwards at the same time. It just pops out` -no screws, scrivets or anything else holding it. However, if you are referring to the cubby box ...

Re: Can SPLIT rear seats fit into a face-lift Bongo?
Yes you can easily put middle row seats in the back but what are you gonna gain? The only part of the seat which splits is the back and not the base so you wont be freeing up floor space as with the seperate fold away rear seats.

Re: Screeching noise on startup
Mine was the same but was fixed by Adrian in Bury. It was the bearing in the idler pulley on the aircon belt. Do a search -someone very recently on the forum gave the bearing number if that helps.

I had a similar noise for a few minutes after start up. Turned out to be the idler pulley on the aircon belt.

Could be that the bottom wheel has seized -worth a check.
