Re: Rust
Hi guys. See this thread: http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=70557&hilit=resin It was a doddle to do a neat looking glasscloth & resin overlay strip along the bottom of the tailgate, and it cost very little and about 2 hrs work. As well as the external strip, I used ...

Rust
Just had some welding done on underside of bongo for mot. Looking at other rust areas one of worst is bottom inside lip of tailgate. Does anyone know if anyone does a pre fabricated panel for that area it looks like quite a big job to make one as the tailgate is slightly bowed in shape.

Steering rack leak
Have a leak from top seal on steering rack. Not losing much fluid just looks like a lot. Should I try a bottle of Lucas stop leak, new seal set £40 or recon steering rack seen one at £150 2 year guarantee on e bay.

If you have lifting roof , it is cooler inside van than outside with roof elevated zips undone and hatch lifted. Windows open as well.

Re: 40.8 MPG achieved
Recently bought a bottle of the millers additive and been using for the last few tanks of fuel, double dose on first tank. Done 500 mile overt the last week and there is a definite improvement in the running of the bongo. Accelerator is a lot more responsive and acceleration does seem to be a lot sm...

Re: cv joint/rear differential clicking noise
Ours went after having bongo for just over a rear. (It did make that typical diff whining noise for a long tome first)
We sourced a replacement rear axil, complete. It has been on since , several years with no probs.

Re: Kam the Kollie
Dogs are brilliant companions, so sorry that Kam has gone. You took a rescue dog in and gave it a chance to live its life. We have one that was on death row and she is now 19yr old. Sure Kam will be in your memories as will our dog Sophie when she goes.

Re: 40.8 MPG achieved
Might have to try some of the millers additive. I do and always have used reddex in all my vehicles, not sure if it makes a difference but never had any probs with an engine that we have used in. All high mileage 15000 a year including bongo.

Re: Smokey on startup and 1st few 100 yards
Odd. Done more testing. It starts fine when I leave the glow plugs on for 2-3x longer than the light suggests. Then a smooth start. New plugs. Doesn't seem to make sense. Power rail screwed on properly to each plug. Plugs staying on longer than light is normal. I normally leave ignition on for a go...

Re: EGR System blanking
Why does the gasket need to be removed I would of thought it would need that to seal again ? I was looking at that. Do people use any gasket seal on blanking plates. No mention in fitting instructions. Anyhow just ordered two from Allans. and one way valve thing that I broke years ago when fitting ...

Re: EGR System blanking
best thing ive ever done to my motor. also diverted the crank/rocker cover breather pipe, this goes into the air intake pipe at the rear of the head, made mine like the old mini,s the pipe goes to ground level. all this makes the engine breathe clean fresh cooler air resulting in a cleaner burn onc...

Re: EGR System blanking
Well worth doing for a bit of mid range boost in power plus a recent post suggested it makes the engine less fussy on the oil you might use. Engine will generate a bit more heat but this should not put you off as it won't overheat due to a blanked of EGR Any other advantages/disadvantages people kn...

EGR System blanking
Thinking about blanking off the egr system and looking at old posts looks like quite a few of you have done this in the past. Is anyone now having problems after doing this. Reading other posts on the web looks like there could be a link to blanking off and turbo problems, or is this just rubbish. L...
