Re: Radiator fans

Around 1000 miles done since replacing Rad - no other problems - looks like it was just a duff rad.

Re: Radiator fans

It all seems fine now - only faulty component seems to be the radiator. I've put a switch in the ECT line just in case but it all seems OK.We will see - I'm about to set of on a longish drive.
Oh - no additives other than usual anti freeze.

Re: Radiator fans

New radiator fitted. System bled OK and bongo now operational.

BUT I'm still worried about the original cause of the overheat. An hour or so before "the incident" my temperature alarm went off as I was pulling away from filling up with diesel. It soon stopped and I put it down to "one of those ...

Re: Radiator fans

Thanks Jaylee - I only put the rad in 3 years ago. I got a warning on my engine over temp sensor - but when I switched off the ignition and switched it on again the warning stopped - but I noticed the temp had dropped to the bog standard 11 o-clock position. I think it was still too hot. Then up an ...

Radiator fans

Just had an overheating episode on the bongo and the radiator has burst - I think no harm done to the engine although I do know what to look for.
I think the problem may have been caused by the fans not coming on. I notice that the fans are NOT coming on when I switch on the A/C with the ignition on ...

Re: Better fuel consumption

It can be estimated quite accurately Scanner - I keep a close watch on that gauge, and I know quite well at what mileage (well kilometers really) that I expect it to pass through the three marks on the gauge. Around town is usually 118km and 240km for first and second marks. That is 22-23 mpg. On my ...

Re: Better fuel consumption

Update:-
One my next tank, the mpg dropped back down to its usual 21-22! (as far as I can estimate from the fuel gauge - I have used about a half tank) Bugger. But then I remembered that I had filled up at an Esso station for the first tank, and my usual Asda for the second tank. I had not believed ...

Re: Better fuel consumption

Skater - it IS in the boot - just in case I get stopped.
Now done most of a tankful around town - getting 26-27mpg. I usually get 21-22.
I wonder why? Maybe the turbo is spinning faster?
I don't know if the saving will be as good on a long run where I usually get 28-30.

Looking at some older ...

Better fuel consumption

A few days ago, my back box parted company from the rest of the exhaust system. I detached it from the hangers, bunged it in the back and continued my way. I ordered a new one which I have not fitted yet. I have been using the bongo without a back box for a few days - its not much noisier.
The thing ...

Camping and Caravan Club

We went up to Glencoe last weekend and booked into the Camping and Caravan club site.

First issue was "Sorry, hard standing only - club rules" OK - no windshield then, and as I don't have fancy pegs, no awning.

Second issue was "You have to pay for the hook up"
"But I have no mains - I don't ...

Re: WARNING...OIL FILTERS

I was just about to buy a filter too!

I can't find a supplier on line who sells geniune Mazda filters for the bongo. Mazda dealers don't list the bongo, and bongo dealers all seem to sell pattern ones. Anyone know of an on line supplier?

Re: Today's mucky job

I've had my thermostat in and out quite a few times in the last six months. Just used a standard socket set from below. Mine is a 2wd though which may make access easier.
Bleeding, as usual, take the most time.
