Re: V6 losing power on hills

Hi Geoff

I haven't checked that but I will, thanks. I'm pretty sure the Bongo garage checked but I will take a look myself for peace of mind.

V6 losing power on hills

Hi all Does anyone have any suggestions about why my Bongo may be struggling a bit on steep hills? The engine has only done 38k miles and generally feels fine but on any kind of steepish incline it needs my foot almost to the floor to sustain 60/65 mph. I've run this by a Bongo garage who agreed it ...

Re: Rear suspension bump/bottoming out

Thanks Rita, I did wonder about the tiredness of the springs. Maybe time to bin them as you suggest.

Rear suspension bump/bottoming out

Hi all I suspect my rear suspension needs some attention. I had the front shocks changed recently which has made a notable improvement and the garage reckoned the rear shocks looked OK. However, the rear end is lower than the front and over speed bumps, even driving really slowly, I get a noticeable...

Re: Wiring in rear camera

Thanks Geoff

To be clear, the cable I found had only 3 wires rather than 4, which theones I found online had.

Re: Wiring in rear camera

Hi Geoff It seems the red/yellow convention doesn't apply throughout with my van, which is a 2002 V6. None of the connectors at the gear shift have this colour coding! I picked up a 12v live red/yellow feed from the original loom to the stereo and still couldn't get the camera to work. I'm a little ...

Re: Skylift roof issues

Thanks. Maybe I haven't looked properly but the only reference I can find to that is for compliance in Germany - to do with VW roofs I think.

I guess there should be a UK equivalent so I'll search.

Re: Skylift roof issues

Hi Rita

Supplied and fitted by JAL. Don't know who makes it though. I don't know what a TUV certificate is, could you point me in the right direction please?

Re: Skylift roof issues

Ok thanks for clarifying that Geoff. We have a version with a zippable front window with mesh because we wanted ventilation. There was also talk of having a skylight installed but it doesn't appear to be available still. The hinges I have to say I'm not totally convinced about. And it's heavy to man...

Re: Skylift roof issues

Yeah, I spotted Jill (Jillygumbo?) had mentioned about replacing the Skylift roof with a high top. I've also heard about, but can't find anything on the forum, people fitting a rubber strip above the windscreen to act as a wind deflector. I wonder if that's what Geoff (g8dhe) was referring too? It's...

Re: Wiring in rear camera

Thanks Geoff. I looked at the wiring diagrams previously but couldn't make sense of them. I'll give it another go.

It's a 2002 V6, hopefully same wiring as you mentioned.

Skylift roof issues

Hi all Can anyone with a Skylift roof tell me how well the rubber fits to the original roof of their van when it's down please? We had the roof fitted in November and it rattled quite badly to start with. Despite cutting the locking pins down a couple of times, we still get the occasional clunk over...

Re: Wiring in rear camera

Hi Geoff Interestingly, I checked across the battery terminals and got 12.6v but couldn't get the voltage to read at the cables I was trying to connect to the unit, so I guess there's an issue with them. I then decided to try connecting into the reverse signal bleep cable at the box down by the accl...

Re: Wiring in rear camera

Thanks Geoff, that's really helpful. I will give it a try. Is it likely the camera won't operate if it doesn't get the full 12v?
