Re: Coolant bleeding

I believe there is some misunderstanding and therefore misinformation on my Bongo bleed-kits. My kits connect the bleed-point on the cylinder head (diesel) or the cylinder block (petrol V6) using a pipe that travels upwards and connects just below the coolant tank. Therefore any air trapped in the c...

Re: Coolant bleeding

There is a kit that uses the same idea as the 2l petrol version with an additional feed from the engine outlet then across to the normally blanked off cap on the top left of the de-gassing tank - be aware this ONLY bypasses the pipe that has to dip down under the firewall, which can also trap air. ...

Re: My 2.5 TD performance upgrades

Thanks Brian :D with the inlet manifold I smoothed out the lumps and bumps from the elbow that goes round the camcover into the manifold. For the inlet manifold itself I opened out the entry, cleaned up any castings inside and then opened out all 8 manifold runners to match the head as they are much...

Re: Bongo Bleeding Solution?

I was talking to someone who fitted a wastegate actuator to actuate the variable vane in a variable vane turbo. The spring in the actuator would need to be the right strength to give you the boost pressure you want. When the boost pressure increases past the desired amount the actuator will operate ...

Re: Bongo Bleeding Solution?

I ported the heads on my present Bongo and my last one as well as the manifolds. It has made a noticeable difference, the torque comes in sooner and more pulling power. I too have developed an air/water intercooler but haven't fitted it yet. I also have another turbo to fit, a variable vane turbo fr...

Re: Bongo Bleeding Solution?

"I've also been reworking inlet and exhaust manifolds for extra flow/performance" - what you do? Hello Cutlass, in short........ I make the inlet manifold flow more air into the engine and I make the exhaust manifold flow more exhaust and help the turbo spin-up better all of which helps i...

Re: Bongo Bleeding Solution?

Hello there, I have a couple kits ready to post, £30 including postage. Been running mine since August (Bongo is my daily/only car) and it works great, been leaving mine in the open position so it bleeds at any time. Was going to be launching in the new year, got a Facebook page "Performance Bo...

Re: Bongo Bleeding Solution?

Hi Mike, in my previous Bongo I had rusty water stains in the cab from spurting boiling water!!! Firstly I can say in practice it works, a couple days after filling and bleeding I was on a drive and thought I would try the valve, the engine was hot, I heard a tiny bubbly "burp" there was a...

Re: Bongo Bleeding Solution?

Hello there, I have plenty of pics but cannot add them on here. I have shrunk the pics right down using a pc app but it still says on the forum when posting that the pics are too large! Years ago I used to use photobucket but that is now a pay site. Anyone got any suggestions? I am more handy with a...

Re: Bongo Bleeding Solution?

Hi there, in place of the usual bleed pipe in have a new pipe exiting underneath the front of the centre console, I have an on/off valve there. The pipe slopes gradually upwards and through a vent near the blower fan and then the pipe goes through a small hole in the plastic and into a T-piece conne...
