Goodbye for now!

After 7 years of a memorable relationship with our Bongo, We've passed it on to my brother in London. It's a sad day in many ways. We've had some great trips around Europe in her. There are a few reasons why we've decided to stop touring, (one of them being the inundation of oversized mobile homes i...

Re: Tyre pressures

Thanks to everyone! Good advice, as usual. I'm off with the old girl on a boat to Spain on Saturday. Hoping to spend a bit of quality time touring around with my two best girls (one being our faithful old Bongo).

Tyre pressures

I have 215/55 17 tyres all round on my Bongo. I'm a bit unsure as to the correct pressures to apply. Your collective wisdom would be most helpful!

Re: Flashing glowplug light

I checked 100A fuse. It was fine. After much head scratching my son in law found an errant lead behind the fuses and told me that it was a direct feed from the radio. He plugged it back into the fuse board then tightened all connections to both batteries. You've guessed it, the flashing glow plug li...

Re: Flashing glowplug light

I've just carried out disconnecting and reconnecting both batteries. Unfortunately, she won't start now. The dashboards dead and the gearstick is stuck in 'P'. God knows what I've done! As usual, suggestions appreciated.

Re: Flashing glowplug light

I shall try what you suggest, thanks!
I'd forgotten about the previous glow plug light problem until you reminded me. I believe that it was a problem with a fuse that time. I've checked the fuses again and cannot find anything amiss.

Re: Flashing glowplug light

Thanks to all the above for your responses. I've checked the LB and it's pretty well charged up. I've looked at the relevant factsheet and located the diagnostic box. I'll have to find someone who is more savvy with auto electrics to help me out on this one.
Don't know what I'd do without forum help!

Flashing glowplug light

just got my Bongo back from it's MOT. Some welding needed and brake callipers replaced, still, not bad for a twenty year old vehicle! The only thing is that the glow plug light is flashing. The garage is mystified (a touch of Bongophobia). I looked in the site archives but, not being very technicall...

Re: Cleaning Electrical contacts

Thanks for the reply. Looks like I got the wrong end of the stick!
The roof is not raising to it's full extent and the beeping does not cancel after it has finished going up. I had a dodgy open/close switch but have replaced that. That's about the extent of my knowledge on this one.

Cleaning Electrical contacts

Spurred on by a previous post, I've bought a can of 'Contact Clean'. I would like to treat the roof raising motors. Have removed the plastic covers but, being an electrical dimwit, havn't a clue how to go about it. If anyone out there has performed this operation I would be grateful for any guidance.

Top Hose Replacement

I was driving back from Cardiff in the Bongo last week when the low coolant alarm did it's job! I stopped and investigated. It was a split hose. The top hose directly under the driver's seat. I called the RAC and they made a temporary repair which got me home. I've ordered and received a replacement...

Re: Leisure battery problem

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm not sure what make my split charger is, all it says on the unit is Power Management System PMS V3. However, a friendly neighbour has looked under the bonnet and says that the feed from the ignition to the split charger solenoid has come adrift. That seems like a likel...
