Spare wheel going anywhere?

Anyone got a spare wheel, well, going spare...? STandard steel 15" (not the skinny one). Tyre size is 215/65/15. Happy to collect if within around 40 miles of Worcester area.

Thank you!

Re: Mystery gearbox fault

Update on this post, since the problem has still not really been identified (even by a 'Bongo specialist' garage) Gearbox oil has been changed (now twice), with 'antivirus' additive Fuel filter changed It's such a specific problem and we're at a total loss. Just to recap - Only when warm (after at l...

Mystery gearbox fault

Bit of a mystery this one, our gearbox (2.5l diesel) is hunting around for a gear and not seeming to find the correct one, but only under a very specific set of circumstances: - when the engine is warm (never does it first thing, but gets worse after e.g 1 hr of running) - between 1500 and 2000 rpm ...

Insurance for learners

Hi, anyone got any information on possible Bongo insurers for learners? We've used Lifesure for many years, very happy with the price and service, but they won't insure anyone (on any licence) under 25 on a Bongo. Thanks in advance!

Re: Help: Bongo held hostage...!

Update on the hostage situation. We found another garage ready and able to do the welding and the retest, so instructed the first garage to make the van ready for us to collect, so that we could drive it (legally because we had a test booked), to the new garage. Hey presto, a text 48 hours later say...

Re: Help: Bongo held hostage...!

But they have done some work on the van to address the issues so you’re booking it in again it doesn’t have to make it to the mot it could break down :^o The garage guy still can't seem to talk his welder out of a sulk, so we've decided to go get the van from him. As I understand it - I need to boo...

Bongolia wrote: Mon Aug 10, 2020 11:30 pm How far from the garage to your house?
about 35 miles, 45-60 mins dep on traffic. But then we would probbaly take to one of two dealers (it needs some other bongp-specific work doing too, apart from the MOT debacle), both of which are over an hour in a different direction

Thanks, I wish that were possible but a) we don't have a bongo specialist near us that we trust and b) it needs a shed load of welding doing before it will pass...

Re: Help: Bongo held hostage...!

The issue over the welding was that it was only done in May, and the tester told us that the corrosion on which it failed was 'at least a year's worth', and therefore should have been spotted at the same time as the May work

Re: Help: Bongo held hostage...!

Thanks, but it's no longer road legal : as soon as it fails then the MOT expires automatically. No issue over the insurance, if it wasn't for the MOT we could go and get it today

Help: Bongo held hostage...!

Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes. Bongo had some welding work done a few months ago at the same time as a general service in preparation for MOT. Mechanic (a Bongo specialist) advised 'should be OK' after the welding. Last week Bongo failed MOT (testing station is near to mechanics...

Re: gearbox sensor overheat?

Fuel filters were cleaned the week before this started (by a bongo specialist), so I don't think it can be those. It's a 1996 model (P reg) If it's the turbo, wouldn't that mean very sluggish pulling away in low gears as well though? There's no problem with performance off a standing start and it go...

gearbox sensor overheat?

In the recent hot spell, we have an occasional issue with gear changing, where the selector seems to hunt around for the correct gear and has difficulty finding it. It's sometimes almost as if one of the cylinders is missing a beat, causing the sensor to think that another change up is necessary. Ot...
