Re: Power Steering
Geoff, you were right. Best to get a garage to check it out. And not just the local "Bongo - friendly (not)" garage who assured me the power steering pump needed to be replaced. Took the van to Simon in Harbury today who found a split in the high pressure power fluid steering hose within 6...

Power Steering
Many thanks to Geoff for replying to my post about this earlier in the week. I've taken a video to try to illustrate the noise made in both park or drive, but for some reason I can't upload it here. A local garage changed the power steering fluid and flushed the pipes a couple of weeks ago as the st...

Re: Power Steering fluid/noise
Unlike the garage, who claim not to be able to hear the noise
Some mechanics just don’t know what to do with Bongos

Power Steering fluid/noise
Power steering fluid and oil were changed by a garage last week as the steering had begun to feel like that of dodgem. Really stiff at times, really loose at others but there was no regular pattern to it. Drove home beautifully from the garage but from the following morning the van's been making a r...

Random Screws
A mechanic fitted a new TPS to my van yesterday and was puzzled as to the purpose of the two screws shown in the photos below.
Any ideas please? Thanks

Re: Gearbox not changing up
Thanks Geoff & Northern Bongolow
TPS sensor is now replaced and the mechanic wondered why there are two screws where you wouldn't expect there to be!

Re: Gearbox not changing up
The guy was asked to fix an engine oil leak and investigate the gearbox problem. He changed the gearbox fluid, changed the brake fluid, added inhibitor for the engine oil and changed the glow plugs.

Gearbox not changing up
1997 Diesel, closing in on 300k miles and really hope this won't be the end! Gearbox working well until the engine warms up and then not changing up until almost 300k revs at times, then when it does change, it's with a real jerk. Topped up the gearbox oil which seemed to help for a few days but the...

Re: Spats from Van-X
Decided to go ahead and buy some. Front spats were clearly the shorter pair. The two larger ones were different sizes and there’s no way the longer one will fit. Despite sending photos and polite emails to Van-X they insist that this is impossible and couldn’t have happened. Looking like this could ...

Reliable Bongo-friendly garage in Brum!
Really happy with GLA Autos in Kings Heath, Birmingham. Serviced and MOT'd my van for a very reasonable price and the work was completed at exactly the time Vinnie said it would be. Getting through the MOT last year involved being without the van for four weeks as the "Bongo Specialist's" ...

Tailgate/Bumper replacement
Hi Folks Just to round off this superb year for the planet, someone drove into the back of my Bongo on Boxing Day. Insurance Company are not making things particularly easy & I don't want the van written off, so does anyone have a rough idea of the cost of a replacement bumper please? Tailgate d...
