Re: Leaking gasket advice

To clarify, it evaporates when hot, so definitely water.

Re: Leaking gasket advice

Thank you for taking the time to read and reply. It is not fitted with a winter pack. I have lost a little coolant in the past, which I am assuming is the water that steams off this when hot. This section gets very hot very quickly, but I don't know what normal temperature is. It isn't losing oil to...

Leaking gasket advice

OK, here goes. I have had a problem with smoke and seem to have traced a possible reason to the gaskets pictured. The dark area along the gasket is moisture and while it is present the exhaust kicks out white/blue smoke. When it gets up to temperature it runs clean and the gasket shows no signs of m...

Re: Non Starter

How is it possible for all of the plugs to fail?. I replaced like for like, they are CP-60 11v plugs (longer ones). Is it most likely to be just crap plugs or is there another explanation?. The van had worked ever since I replaced them and they only stopped working when I blanked off the EGR. Also, ...

Re: Non Starter

UPDATE I have discovered the problem. THREE of the new glow plugs I put in are dead. That can't be normal can it?. They were cheap plugs, which may be the answer, but I have only driven the van once or twice since replacing them last month. I checked the voltage and 12 at the battery went to less th...

Re: Non Starter

The charge at the relay is OK. The pipe is intact. I have now replaced all the pipes and wired the EGR system back up, although it is still blanked off. It feels like no fuel is getting through although there is a little smoke when turning it over.. Could too much air have entered the fuel system or...

Non Starter

Hello. It's been a while. I decided to blank off the EGR and remove some of the pipes and gubbins. Now I can't start the thing. It was working fine yesterday after I had removed the bits, bit somehow now it won't start. It turns over and some white smoke appears from the back but it won't fire up. G...

Re: Expansion Tank Pressure when cold.

Interesting. For months I thought the LCA wasn't working at all, so when I was met with the red light of crisis, I thought the worst. Thank you all for your input. If it ok with you, the words "good healthy system" are all I wish to take away for now.

Expansion Tank Pressure when cold.

Today my LCA was going off suggesting a leak of some kind.
The van was cold from standing overnight. When I opened the expansion tank cap, there was a hiss of pressure releasing and the LCA stopped.

Any ideas?

Re: Coolant bubbles advice. Video

Thanks Haydn. I don't smell any exhaust gases from the coolant and I have been glued to the funnel all afternoon. Anyone local to us who can give me the absolute truth, I'm living near Glastonbury now I was recommended Bell Hill by Ian when the problem first occurred. But that's 45 mins away..

Re: Service hole cover

Isn't the service hole cover that metal plate under the carpet, behind the drivers seat that hides the fuel sender unit?

Re: Coolant bubbles advice. Video

I spent the afternoon changing the rad and giving the coolant another go. I have come to the conclusion that there is air somehow entering the system. I am unsure how, but I have a suspicion that it is somehow coming in through the air con system. I had a very promising result with the bleed, everyt...

Re: knocking

Check the rear antirollbar drop link. If the rubbers are perished they knock. replace both if you do need to change one Fairly cheap and easy DIY fix if the self locking nuts are not too tight.
