Thanks everyone, I've got a mate who can regas it so I'll go down that route first.

Air Con Problem
My air con seems to have packed up, the light on the ac button comes on when you press it but I don't hear the fan come on and no cold air comes.
I've checked the fuse and it is fine, what should I be trying next?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Road trip
I'd get the thermostat and water pump changed while you are at it personally, not that expensive to get done and makes sense to me while the coolant is been flushed and replaced.
The cost of failure of these parts, especially when a long way from home, makes this a no brainer......

Re: Bleeding Bongo's
I did mine a couple of months ago with a coolant flush, stat and pump. Had no problems at all and found that the water pump had a slight leak that I didn't know about before.

Re: coolant alarm
Mine used to run at 94 and after changing the water pump, thermostat and flushing then refilling with Carplan Premium Red Coolant it runs at 87/88 steadily. I wouldn't worry at the temperatures you are reporting, but you may be able to lower them with a bit of maintenance on the cooling system, I'm ...

Re: Travel cot near to the leisure battery
Just don't have it charging at night and turn the gas off at the bottle (or put the bottle outside). No risk at all then.

Re: Another coolant question
I used a short bit of pipe with a bolt rammed down it and a jubilee clip at each end, has been perfect.

Re: Another coolant question
As is to be expected, Kirsty has a very valid point - this is what was causing my coolant leak, never more than a quick squirt but enough to set my nostrils tingling and my brain to panic!

Re: Disasters averted by laziness
Mine is currently off after removing it a few weeks ago for the waterpump swap. I've drove a few hundred miles since then with no problems at all, although I am going to refit it. As the lining on mine is sodden and horrible after years of use I was contemplating removing it and also drilling lots o...

Mine also looks pretty much exactly the same.
I've given the passenger side a good clean when I swapped the thermostat and am planning to do the drivers side when I get a moment.

Re: Rear Suspension bump-stop mounts
One of mine dropped off when I touched it last year, I've been meaning to pop it back on for ages now.
Maybe this thread will prompt me into doing it!

I'd also suggest that it might be working to near its spec if it is 75amps and goes for a day and a half running your fridge.

Re: broken down! advice please
Hopefully you have got away with it and a new top hose plus a proper flush/bleed will get things running again. As others have said, this is also a good time to fit a new genuine thermostat and there is also an arguement for fitting a new water pump at the same time (I've just done all of these and ...

Re: How "HOT" does it have to get ???
After recently replacing my thermostat, waterpump and flushing then refilling with premium red coolant, I have dropped my normal operating temperature from 95c to 87c. I drove for over an hour afterwards in various conditions including half an hour at 70mph on the motorway and it never went over 89 ...

Re: Sudden Coolant Loss - Please Help
Yep, the factory radiators do not have this and some aftermarket replacements do. Put a bit of rubber pipe on it with a bolt jammed up it and a couple of jubilee clips to hold it all tight. If the system ever needs venting under pressure then this will happen through the header tank without problem....
