Re: Head gasget and timing belt
I have been around Bongo for around six years and rarely ever heard of a head gasket 'going' .. But heads cracking yes ..!! Right, so if the cooling system is looked after i.e. don't allow it to run dry, it shouldn't overheat and cook the head. And, hopefully a build up of sludge doesn't happen all...

Re: Head gasget and timing belt
I think any loss of coolant needs to have it's cause ascertained as you shouldn't really be losing any. Similarly, a cambelt needs changing every 60k miles or 5 years, whichever comes first. As a buyer I'd be concerned if the age/mileage/condition of the cambelt is uncertain, but yours sounds ok. A...

Re: Head gasget and timing belt
The cam belt is not included in a normal service, but of course you could have it done at the same time. Its 4 years since mine was done so I can't remember the cost, but I seem to recal a couple of hours should do it. Imwould remember if it had been horrendous. 8) Ok Bob thanks, maybe someone else...

Head gasket and timing belt
A prospectve buyer for our diesel 4 cyl Bongo has heard that they can have problems with 'the head' and she asked if we've ever had the gasket changed. She's done, 93,000 miles (about 150,000 k) but only only 30,000 miles in our 7 years of ownership. I remember losing some coolant about 5 years ago ...

Re: Which leisure battery
Weird or what? Before new LB arrived I removed old one tied all leads up out of the way and drove off. Immediate observations:- lots of warning lights came on dash e.g. door light, starter coil stayed on for ages, and another couple, can't remember which. I then noticed the central locking would'nt...

Re: Which leisure battery
Hay Pete, I just fitted a 120ah AGM from advancedbatterysupplies.co.uk £75 with 4 year warranty. Normal price is £95 cash, but I traded two 110's which weren't holding charge. Roy Thanks again Roy, when you say a tight squeeze, what dimensions are your choice of LB? I find any more than 350mm long ...

Which leisure battery
Hi All I need a new LB and from what I rememeber from about four years back, I had a devil of a job to find a 100ah LB that had the right terminal format and fitted in the tray I ended up with one which is 190 mm H x 175 mm W and 350mm L. Really, it was far too long and high and I had to jam it in. ...
