Re: Alternator belts....too long?

Hey cmm303 What a crazy coincidence....I have been to a garage today about another problem, and got talking about this one. Following that conversation, I was planning on posting again here about this issue, when I noticed that you'd inquired after it today! Btw, thanks for posting the pictures and ...

Re: Alternator belts....too long?

Thanks so much, I will measure it tomorrow and see what I come up with. I've never wanted something to be wrong with the Bongo before, but if mine is different, I hope I can (correctly) claim that the issue is resolved!! Then I can order a new water pump and look forward to a summer of camping! [-o<

Re: Alternator belts....too long?

HI everyone, thanks again to all who replied, for your help. I thought I'd post a quick update and if you don't mind, ask for a small favour? Since my previous posts, I have tried and failed to fit the aforementioned 1075 belts (just to see). I have since fitted some new 1100s, run the van gently, t...

Re: Alternator belts....too long?

Thanks for all your replies and advice Rita, cmm303, Gasy and Northern Bongolow. Plenty to consider and I will order some correct length belts from MazdaBongo.com to fit when I've sorted this out! I tried to attach a photo to show you my tensioner bolt, but it won't let me, even after compressing th...

Re: Alternator belts....too long?

We are discussing the diesel engine? (Sorry if there are clues that are obvious to those that know!) If anything, I found new belts tight to fit, even with the alternator fully in to the block. Is it at all possible there is an incorrect pulley diameter, perhaps on the replacement water pump? I too...

Re: Alternator belts....too long?

All the pulleys seem to be in line; there is a very (very) slight wobble on the water pump pully, but not enough to cause the belts to invert. My point with the belt length is that I don't think I am able to fully tension the belts using the tensioner since it has reached the limit of the bolt. The ...

Alternator belts....too long?

Morning all, I hope someone is able to assist with an issue I am having. A few weeks ago, my van over heated whilst out on a sunny Sunday drive. The issue was that both of my alternator belts (which I hadn't changed as per the maintenance schedule  #-o ) had failed, meaning the water pump had ...

Re: Where do you buy your Veggie oil?

20 litres for just shy of £20 in Bookers. I bought and used a 'Shaker Siphon' for the first time with a 20l bottle yesterday. For the uninitiated, this is a tube with a brass connector containing a ball bearing, which you put into the bottle (placed slightly higher than the tank opening), put the ot...

Re: 12S wiring and ATF Oil

Thanks to everyone who offered advice over the last few days :-D I managed to do everything I wanted (except for the exhaust, I'm leaving that to someone who won't strip all the nuts and bolts), and it seems to be working fine so far... [-o< I have another few queries (the first of which is going to...

Re: 12S wiring and ATF Oil

Morning everyone As planned I got a load of stuff done on the van yesterday.... Oil change (hooray for the Pela 6000!) Oil filter Fuel filter Air filter Atf fluid (another shout for the Pela!) I finished off by draining the differential fluid and trying to get the centre section of the exhaust off. ...

Re: 12S wiring and ATF Oil

So it is, I hadn't read it properly, thanks. I know I'm going to show my lack of any mechanical knowledge here, but what 'solvent' should I use? When replacing the gasket the datasheet mentions using a 'sealant'; again, lack of any relevant experience leads to the question, what sealant? Sorry to be...
